Even to try explaining who Marlon Brando was,....it,s impossible,he just wanted to be a human being as everyone else

Edward Norton's comments, for me, are so articulate and meaningful. Marlon Brando seems to be the unltimate actor. I've watched so many interviews with him on KZbin and he just is an "actor".

Brando was unapologetically himself and many people do not understand that. He was not owned or manipulated by the industry he valued his true identity and was not manipulated the way many are. People are continually disappointed when they try to analyze him because he was what you see is what you get take it or leave it.

But he had the Genius Talent to get away with that. 99% of the People Don't.

The cat swinging line is, I think, of British heritage. I've always known the saying to be something akin to "This room isn't big enough to swing a cat in". It's funny to hear that Brando used that phrase.

It's a nautical expression. Cat 'o' nine tails.

The cat is not the animal but a small whip used on a ship in the Old British navy for punishment. If the room was to small you could not swing the cat to inflict the full impact of the whip the cat of nine tails.

what he said in the end was it. his development eroded his ability to deal with people who were being less truthful and in the moment, so he was mischievous with everyone, publically at least. but one to one, away from interviews, he could force peiple ti be truthful with him by how he acted. thats what i think

Well, Brando was kind of the guy who would tell people what he doesn't like about them if they piss him off. He seemed to be brutally honest and direct and really could take people apart verbally if he felt the need to. E.g., in this particular film with Edward Norton (The Score) he didn't like the director so in the end he didn't take any commands from that director and De Niro had to shoot the Brando scenes.

JAY OH I reckon Brando had the intelligence to unpack someone emotionally in a way that us normal people can't do. That's why he spoke on an emotional level to audiences since streetcar and combine that with his devastating looks, intelligence, sexual presence and you will find a bunch of people in pieces around him. I doubt he was malicious. He was just better than everyone else.
