Well, Eurovision does tend to have a bias for entries with emotional/sad backstories, so that's definitely in the favor of Kyle if he wins MGP!

MGP feels like a victim of its own success this year. While I don’t think it’s as bad as many in the Eurovision community are saying, it’s definitely weaker than the past few years. NRK mentioned they had a hard time finding artists this year, partly due to last year’s controversy. On top of that, it’s a transition year with the head of delegation and the MGP project manager being replaced. To make things trickier, Lavrans and Angelina Jordan, arguably the most anticipated artists, pulled out at the last minute. It seems like NRK was counting on one of them winning, which might explain why the remaining songs feel a bit underwhelming. That said, I think Norway’s best shot is “The Game” by Nataleen. It feels like a mix between “Run to the Hills” by Klara Hammarström and “Queen of Kings” by Alessandra. With strong staging, I think it could be a solid pick for Eurovision.

I think it has to do with the massive protest from Norwegian artists before Eurovision last year. It still casts a shadow over the contests both here in Norway and on Iceland. Seems to be hard to find more known artists and composers to contribute, hence the removal of semi finals.

Well, two of the biggest names who could have brought a Eurovision win for Norway this year withdrew right before the release which was a big big bummer. Thats why this year seems like a poor one. The two I am talking about is Lavrans Svendsen who went viral when he was on The Voice and Angelina Jordan based in LA to persue her artist career who Quincy Jones said this about «he had never seen a bigger talent since Michael Jackson. Both of these had been my wish for this years Eurovsision so when both withdrew it was very upsetting.

I actually think that he can struggle a bit with the vocals live, because he was breathed in a bit in the umami tsunami and back then he only sang a little. And now he has his own song… and if he's going to dance and sing at the same time this year (which he has to in order to beat Nataleen) then he needs to be in better shape and a vocal that lasts. Because he has a lot of high notes in this song which I think might be difficult for him to do live. but we'll see.

@@dpisark yeah but still, if he’s going to beat Nataleen he has to sing clean, he has to sing the high notes clean. And he has to dance. If he’s doing this maybe he can beat Nataleen. But Nataleen can really sing, and she’s going to do a lot of new things in MGP that never has been done before. So I think she’s going to be hard to beat. And her song is really powerful. The chorus is way stronger than Kyle’s. his chorus is weak

@@markushansen6866 the only song I could see maybe….and it’s a shaky maybe is Nora Jabri…we know the girl can SING…and her song leaves a lot open to what the stage show could look like and maybe if there’s enough wow and she goes ham on the vocals it could be the dark horse…but it’s a maybe…personally I enjoy her song as is but I don’t think it sounds competitive…but it could deliver a wow stage show

I would've loved Nataleen with the game, my only issue however, is the fact that it sounds just like Queen of Kings from 2023 by Alessandra. The voice, the vibe, everything just feels copy & pasted. I definitely think if the staging for "Hot as hell in Paradise", "Lighter" or "The Game" is good, we could definitely see Norway getting top 15 in the ESC finale this year.

Its not a copy. Its actually the same songwrititers as «Queen of kings», «run to the hills» and «the code» so this is their style. and its actually not that similar. This is a fighting song. And more hunger games. With much more power and strength in it. Queen of kings was more a royal song with the sound of game of thrones. The only thing that sounds a little similar is the beat. But that’s all.

There were two really really great artist that backed out in the last moment so this is what we got. I think next year is going to get better because we have a new head delegation. the delegation didn’t choose the songs it was. Stig Karlsen chose the songs before he left I hope next year but unfortunately this is what we got and it’s really really really weak this year. I don’t think we are going to get to the final sadly

I have this theory: If a country's contests tend to favour "party songs", then composers with high musical ambitions will find something else to focus on. I see this in Norway, and I see it in Finland. Both countries have had several uptempo and joke entries in recent years, while quality ballads and other ambitious entries have failed (some even didn't qualify from the first round in Norway). Now they are left with songs that wouldn't even have qualified for the NF's a couple of years ago.

My first place is Kyle Alessandro-Lighter 🔥 i hope he wins :) one thing that i didnt like about Hot as hell in paradise is that in the song, she sings "enee menee minee moo, catch a demon by the toe" (idk if i wrote that wrong) and it sounded very similar to Save me from AnnaPrincess from 2024, where she sings "enee menee minee mo, catch a tiger by the toe". i just thinked that was a little wierd 😅 otherwise i kinda liked the song.

It is important to remember that the two BIG contenders for the win withdrew (Angelina Jordan and Lavrans). It is very clear that they both were NRKs picks to win this year, and when they both withdrew we are left with this. However, I believe this is good. As this opens up for Nataleen or Kyle to win it, which would be good for Norway going forward. We NEED to use MGP as a showcase for new and exciting artists.

I don't know why Ulveham didn't get that many points from the jury, but I think I understand why the public didn't vote for it. For me, personally (and I assume many people might've had similar impressions) this song was way too intense and too heavy. Yes, Croatia also went for something heavier, but yet light enough for people who don't generally listen to heavy music to enjoy it. And people who do listen to heavy music most likely voted for Ireland, hence their 6th place. If it had not been for Irish entry, I believe Norway would've scored higher.

Norway had better years for sure. The last years i loved so many songs, this year there is none that really sticks with me. But most national selections this year are kinda mid so far. I enjoy two songs from Croatia and one from Estonia, and its not Espresso Macchiato. Montenegro did good for me though. I'm sure we will get more strong ones, I heard some good snipptes from Ukraine. but maybe this year its going to be a bit on the weaker side which is fine, we had great years since 2021.

@@Worldvishawn There are a lot of valid reasons why it is like it is. The two biggest favorite participants pulled out of the contest straight before the release day. They were able to replace one of them, but it was done in a hurry and it shows (Sondrey). And other reasons are that NRK are in financial trouble, the esc finale is on our contitution day and the TV ratings will be low, so NRK didn't want to put much money and effort in this year's MGP. The music chief for MGP also quit his job in late September, and had to find all the songs before that. We will be back stronger next year.

I couldn't agree more. This year is weak and poor. So generic that sounds like the Sweden entries from Melodi Festivalen ... Is this a Revenge? They sent such a good last year and stayed in last ... 😮. So sad, MGP was the high moment of the national selections 😞. My favourite is Human Fire, it is an honest rock song (from 80s or 90s, sure), a classic song that could do very well with a good stage.
