I wonder if there will be vids and photos of you and Haylie just hanging around the house? I mean at home, not in a tent, the back of a rented car, or a rickshaw.
@AndrewDawes
@AndrewDawes 5 жыл бұрын
The back of a Rickshaw is my home! 😂 there is a plan to do more stuff at home but we are in between houses at the moment and everything is a mess. Things were supposed to be sorted by the end of January 20189, but that looks like February is more likely now! What type of videos would you want to see?

Nice. I traveled Norway pretty extensively, but ran out of time to get over to Lofoten. I feel I truly missed out on that...

WWWHHHATTT? You traveled Norway without seeing Lofoten?! Well then, you'll just have to go back :D It truly was one of the highlights of the trip! I think Part 2 and 3 are better lofoten videos

@@AndrewDawes I would love to go back! I did miss out for sure, but I did do as much as I could in the time I had. Another couple of weeks at least would've been great!

I totally agree.... I think next time I want to visit during January for some clearer aurora weather!

I’ve just viewed your latest Norway video; you & Haylie have had a great time, eg throwing lumps of ice at each other. Actually, I’m just now catching up with watching the landscape videos. A while ago, Andrew, you asked me what I was doing in the Kimberley. I’ve often been there on my holidays, the first being in 1972 - quite a different area then. I’m a priest, so I’ve been asked to fill in the the mission communities, now referred to as ‘parishes’. I retired recently, which means being on ‘lesser duties’. So in August, 2016, I was asked to look after the parish of Derby. That summer was the hottest & driest for over 3 years; you would like the heat! So I’ve seen most of the Kimberley. What I hadn’t seen was the remote parts of the NW Coast, which you can see from an very expensive boast trip from Broome to Darwin. So I enjoyed the documentary of that coast on SBS recently. You can see it on SBS on Demand. Unless you win the lottery, that’s the only was to see it; there’s no land access.

Hey Robert, thanks for tuning in again mate. Glad you enjoyed it... yeah Haylie and I don’t see much snow or ice so that’s always a perk! We were in Derby last year, not a bad little coastal town but very isolated! I actually took an amazing image of a boab tree and then some boab Astro photos.... was a lot of fun but I’m yet to edit those images! Hopefully things will calm down soon so I can go back through the last 3 years and pick out my favourites. We were strapped for time, otherwise we would have attempted more and more of the Gibb River region. Its definitely on my list of places to return to and visit with a troop landcruiser for sure! But in the winter 😀

Thanks for your continued support lover! The pano from the lookout is my favourite. However I think the sunshine (norway style) on the mountains is probably your favourite edit?

Really enjoyed that one again Andrew & Haylie. I'm amazed that you can even remember, let alone find which images match up with each vlog destination so long after the event. Either you have a really organised collection or ... maybe that's the reason you're so far behind ...??? Anyway, absolutely awesome adventures and always looking forward to the next one. Richard

Hey Richard. The system is pretty simple tbh... every time we arrive in a new timezone all the cameras are set to that time zone. Then when the footage and images are dumped they get put into their date folders. So If I know that Im going to produce a video from the 26th, then I need to edit images in the 26th folder under a different camera. And when i have footage from 2 or more cameras (M50 + iphones + cameras etc) then I bulk rename the file name to start with the date and time shot. So when I sort the files they are chronological and not alphabetical as the different cameras will have different filing names. See, simple lol. Im so far behind because at this stage I am only editing 1 video a week.... but we shoot nearly everyday when on locations. So for the Tasmania series, thats 10 days of video which is 10 weeks of finalised video. Thanks for tuning in again mate!!!

Wow, you're really organised with it by the looks ... it must be hard for you to get motivated to edit the older videos when you have so many new adventures ..!!!

@@nightscapeimages.richard After travelling so much its the only way I know how to keep on top of it all! Then there is whole backup process too! Norway is proving to be a bit more difficult because the weather was so bad. So not only does that affect the photos we're able to take, but also the amount of video that is captured to make a decent video! So yes... i am excited to start producing Iceland... but at the same time, im mentally investing in the production of the norway series too :D

Well you do a great job with it all Andrew. I've slowly watched most of your older content and it's a credit to you that you've been able to keep up the pace for so long. As well as that I can see some really clever additions to your videography skills along the way ... it's never easy to juggle 2 cameras as well as audio etc .. .doubly so it the freezing cold and rain ...!!!

Thanks Richard! It’s such a satisfying feeling when a series is done and dusted (time for a beer 🍻) and the excitement to start another series brings with it so many memories when you consider how long ago it was 😁👍

@Andrew Dawes - I really enjoy your videos, some great insights into on-location shooting and the thinking behind the shots. I really like how you show the transition from the original to the processed image. I wonder, would you consider producing a tutorial one day showing your processing techniques and workflow? I think this would make for an absolutely fascinating video.

Hey Steve, thanks for tuning in mate! appreciate it. To be honest I have thought about it... a lot.... but Im not 100% if enough people would be interested in my editing because I know personally that I want to achieve so much more from my editing and I dont know if Im there yet with mine. Another reasons Im not making more videos (like that) is Haylie and I are between houses at the moment... and my backdrop in my office is not the best. Blank walls in a small room means boring video plus echoing audio... Come February I plan on changing up some of that stuff though!

Andrew, I must have done something to my iPad, & as the text just flew off into cyberspace! I wasn’t able to make corrections, but that doesn’t matter. I always enjoy your videos. In retirement I’m attempting to learn the complexities of digital photography.

Thats something that I've been struggling with lately. I guess now that Haylie and I are planning on taking it a bit easier, we are going to be looking at printing for more on our work to hang around the house. I would like to one day start selling select images... but I think I am far off the quality of print worthy just yet. I can happen one day though :D
