The drive from Geilo through Hardangervidda, passed Vøringsfossen (waterfall) in Måbødalen gorge and to Hardanger bridge is one of the best. Many landscapes and impressive road engineering.

These tunnels actually make a spiral (full circle) inside the mountain to climbe steep Måbødalen gorge. Still the road is steep. Low gear need downhill!

Spectacular scenery indeed. Looks like the tunnels in the first section are sparsely lit and quite crudely drilled through the rock. Or is in person a different experience driving through them?

Yep, it's bare rock mostly. In Norway they just blast tunnels with explosives, they don't bore them with a tunnel boring machine. Cheap and efficient.

+European Roads They aren't actually bare, some of the older ones are, but newer ones (199o onwards, roughly) are sprayed with concrete over the rock surface.

the bedrock is usuall very hard and stable, and dont need the support of concrete. Drilling machines are used only in special cases.

It is still Rv 7 in this video. It is Fv. 7 west of Rv. 13. no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riksvei_7 Strangely, there are some white "7" signs across Hardangervidda, which is not correct according to Norwegian Wikipedia. Statens Vegvesen's Vegkart also shows it as a green route.

+European Roads Those signs probably remained from before 2010, when only E-roads had green route markers. Most of these route markers were changed to green since then, but in some remote-ish areas, the old system "remains".

My road atlas from 2016 shows it as Fv7 from Gol all the way to Trengereid outside Bergen, including this part, while Rv7 went from Hønesoss to Gol. But now (in the 2021 edition) Rv7 goes from Hønefoss to the Hardanger Bridge while the rest of the old Fv7 is now Fv79. I think I saw some white 7 signs in the area last summer though.
