I loved the explanations of the national holiday uniforms and the school graduating uniforms. We dont have anything like that where I live in the US so it is cool to see your country’s traditions. The little white dog’s dress had me 😂😂

Thank you for another great 17th of May video ☺. So nice to hear about the traditional clothes. In the Netherlands we also have those kind of traditional clothing. And even specific head decorations for women to accompany those. You could see where people were from, according to the clothes they were wearing. And the clothes are very beautifully made. Unfortunately you don’t see it that often any more here, but for special occasions ore festivities, some people do wear them. The traditional clothing from Norway looked so beautiful! And what a fun an special tradition Russ is. Never heard about something similar.

Thank you, Marijke! ☺️❤️ How interesting! Just Googled your traditional clothing and it's looks pretty similar 😄 No, I haven't heard of anyone else doing it either. It's a very weird tradition, but so much fun 😆

really interesting information about the dresses and that highschool ending thing! I am amazed how you celebrate this day in your country and hold on to traditions. In Germany, we don't really do this i think, maybe due to our bad history... and I loved the old pictures of marita. Maybe you could do something like a "stories (and pictures) of my life" sometimes 😄

Yeah, the traditions around the 17th of May will never end I think 😄 I'm so happy we have them! Haha yeah, I can definitely do that! Will try to gather as many pictures as I can 😆👍

Such a happy video again! Great to see you enjoy the National Day, now you can enjoy it more than in the past when you were drunk 😅 Sounds like such an exhausting month that after, or already inbetween, you are guaranteed gonna be sick. Happy day!! ❤

Thank you! ❤️ Haha yeah probably didn't enjoy that 17th of May as much as all the other ones 😂 It was exhausting, so I'm glad it's only a once in a lifetime thing 😆 Was definitely memorable though! Have a great week! 😁

So interesting regarding Norway's tradition with HS. There is nothing in comparison to this in Canada. I'm sure my parents probably wouldn't have let me get on one of the buses... lol! The historical clothing worn is really beautiful! Thanks for another great King's Day vlog❤❤

I know! It’s definitely a weird tradition 😂 I don’t think any parent here is very fond of that tradition though haha, altough they have most likely been through it themselves 😆 Thank you, Sherri! 😁❤️

I attended the Russ of my classmates at Gjovik (If I am not mistaken, your are originally from around there, too? I think you mentioned it in some video ) I really loved the clothing (music track) and was envious that I couldn't have one 😁 I didn't do the meetups though, it looks really cool! I liked how you describe it just as "everyone is so happy!" 😊 I didn't know that Matt went to school in Norway, too.

Oh, how cool that you got to experience it! I studied in Gjøvik for college, so I lived there for 5 years, but I am originally from Oslo 😄 Matt is born and raised in Norway. It's just his mother that is from England, but she moved here before Matt was born 😊

Loved this video, especially the look at the Russ tradition and some of the incriminating photos from the past 😂😂 Skål! Dropped Buddy off…for a nap!😂 Lisa wants one of those chocolate ice cream cones. Says I need to bring her to Oslo - tomorrow!!😍 By the way, I had a chef salad and raspberries for dinner, just before watching you eat that buffalo burger and sweet potato fries. Still feeling sorry for myself 😢 On a different topic, do you two eventually want your own Bunad?

Thank you! 😄 Haha! I made sure to leave out the most embarrassing photos haha 😆 Yeah, Buddy had enough after breakfast 😂 Haha bring her! I'll have the ice cream ready! Haha now that you've had that salad, you can have a burger with good conscience 😆 Maybe some day. Matt definitely wants one. I'm more on the fence, but maybe in a couple of years 😄 They're so damn expensive though 😅

I loved this! ❤ Even though I don’t like crowds, I hope to spend a May 17th in Norway some year. Looks like such a happy day, and it’s definitely on my bucket list! That ice cream you had outside is one that I wanted when we were there last year but could never find (probably not looking in the right places). The Bunad are so beautiful. I love seeing all the different versions of them. I loved the info about russ; we’ve been seeing stuff on another channel about it. I have SO many questions! Do the kids go home at all during that month, or do they stay out all night and day for a month? Do they sleep on the bus, on the streets, or…? What happens to the bus at the end? And who drives the bus? I’m so intrigued! You did a great job putting this video together! Thank you so much for sharing this big day with us!

Yeey, thank you! So glad you loved it! 😁❤ Would be awesome it you came here May 17th one year! Weird that you couldn't find it. The Kroneis is everywhere 😆 Every grocery store and kiosk has them. Maybe you were just unlucky 😅 Haha! I get that it's a fascinating concept 😂I definitely went home to sleep, but most often in the mornings and only for a couple of hours 😂We slept on the bus when we traveled to Stavanger, but only for a night before we had to book a hotel. The bus was NOT comfortable 😂 A lot of people stayed on the bus though. The bus usually get sold to next years Russ. And we hire a driver for the whole month (poor guy), but they get well paid 😆Maybe we can do a more dedicated video and explain more in detail next year 😁👍

@@MaritaKvam Thanks for answering my crazy questions! A video about Russ would be great, but only if you think others would like it, too. We’re just super curious, since we don’t have that here (the Amish in the US have something sort of similar, but I think it lasts a year). I think I couldn’t find the ice cream because I didn’t know which one to buy, and I would choose wrong. Now I know which one it is 😁. (I’m not big on ice cream, so if I see one I want to try, I’m forever on a mission to get it 😂).

@@MaritaKvam is there a maker that does the men bunad ? and what if someone that doesn't come from norway from the states wants to show norway pride wear a men bunad is that consider wrong in Norway?
@MaritaKvam
@MaritaKvam 2 ай бұрын
All bunad stores I've seen makes for both men and women 😊 They real ones are crazy expensive though, anywhere from like 3-6000 USD 😅 Some places sell something we call a "festdrakt", which is very similar to a bunad but cheaper. Might be possible to rent a bunad somewhere as well, but I'm not sure 🤔 Anyone can wear a bunad if they want! I don't think anyone would be offended by that. I would just see it as a compliment 😊

I really have no experience with buying a festdrakt or a bunad, so I have no idea what to suggest. I see that festdrakt also can be quite expensive, around 200-400 USD. 😅

hello. Are the stores/resturants/museums closed in the pinse vacation?
@MaritaKvam
@MaritaKvam 5 ай бұрын
Stores will close early on May 18, and will be closed May 19 and 20. Restaurants are usually always open. I do also believe museums are usually open every day, but might have different opening hours.
