Norwegian 737 landing at Oslo Gardermoen after a storm - 24-70mm F2.8

NAX827 from Stockholm-Arlanda to Oslo Gardermoen, pushed back 3 minutes behind scheduled departure time, although it doesn't matter seeing as Norwegian advertise these flights as 1hr even though on a good day they're only 45-55 minutes. Departure from Arlanda was standard, Runway 08. We climbed to 30,000ft due to load (we were tankering 12.4t for the next flight, expensive fuel at OSL) and around 140 pax onboard. The approach into Oslo was standard as well, with nice views of the lighting after the recent CB clouds above OSL airport had passed. I must say, the lighting was really nice!

How is it that these airlines let you record when your taking off and landing? most of the flights ive been on and tried recording i would usually get told off by the flight crew!?

Depends on which country you film in, and it also depends on the FA. In Europe laws are being passed which state you can use electronic devices onboard in all phases of flight, as long as it does not transmit electronic signals. I always film, regardless however. If you listen for the "Cabin crew, take your seats" you'll know they're sitting down, and that they are no longer checking the cabin. It's either an announcement like that, or a double chime (usually sounds like the seatbelt sign). This also happens during take-off, and is usually part of their runway entry procedure. If the crew finishes with their safety demonstration, and cabin checks early, they may seat themselves before this sound. Best to just look around. The only threat my camera poses, is it hitting me in the face if there was an emergency!

Hi Ronald, I'm thinking of saving up for a 550D... do you see better results while using the 18-55mm lens or the one in this video? Cheers mate

The 24-70mm L lens is a far superior lens, obviously with the price tag and with the quality of glass they aren't comparable. I'd watch out though as the 24-70mm acts more like a 35-105mm lens on a crop body like the 550D. Once you have a full frame, it's the true focal length though.

Alright sounds good! Thanks for the info! I think I'll purchase a 550D that's got an 18-55mm lens with it and then save up for the 24-70mm, I just gotta make sure I'll be doing enough traveling in the future for it to be money well spent. Are you planning on filming a lot more videos with the 24-70mm?
