My great grandfather came to America from the farms in the other side of the bridge from the village of Mo (Modalen). I’ve traced generations of ancestors having lived and farmed there back as far as 1502. The farm kommune is called Otterstad, which was also my grandparents surname.

Today, Mo and Otterstad are really not considered separate places. The locals know the difference, but the entire area has gotten the name Mo officially. and that was your daily dose of extremely niche information on the internet. And yes, I am willing to answer some questions about Modalen if you see this and have something to ask.

Bergen looks interesting. Your 95€ seems super expensive, but Norway is in general. The sail on the fjord for 60€ seems pricey as well, but I suppose it was worth it if you can "afjord" it.
