Looks promising but my main concern is the modern day story that’s what gone make it or break this game for me

With all due respect, you sound “wishy washy”. Here’s a simple question. If no improvements were made, are you going to put in 100+ hrs w/ guides etc, or not? That’s really all I want to know. Peace

Yasuke only really excels at Melee combat. Which I get was the point of his kit as to provide a different option/route for your game. But this is Assassin’s Creed, you’d expect to be playing as an Assassin. Which Naoe fits perfectly in. But Naoe also has a grappling hook, runs faster, and doesn’t give herself away so easily. Which in a game like shadows I just find so much more fun. But from what I’ve heard, it’s because of these differences that prevents Yasuke from being able to do the same things as Naoe. Like is there going to be content in the game specific for Yasuke? I hope so because otherwise I don’t see any point in playing as him.

Unlikely day one but definetly going to play it. I liked most AC games well enough, even if I didn't finish the all. Prices usually go down fast after release. Also feels like the last AC was long enough away that I am not dreading jumping into a new one. I just hope they dialed back the Ubisoft formular a bit (millions of icons on the map) for more or less pointless shit to collect and do.

Are there even any special abilities in this game? How many? Is there some kind of super? Are there different levels of abilities to give some depth? Are there status effects? Can you combo any abilities? You wouldn't know at all from this TWENTY FOUR MINUTE video.

I liked the main quest we did, there was a nice little twist in it. Side Quests seem very cookie cutter, but we didn't get to do many of them.

Game should have been Noae only. Yasuka was clearly shoehorned into the game. Time spent on him and his story could have been used to make the game better.

@qadashchaayah144 not sure if directed at me but has zero to do with my comment. I don't care at all about the game and won't be buying it but looking forward to the YT and Twitter posts from both sides on it. Zero cope and zero seeth here but I guess that's the only response you could come up with and probably post on everything you don't agree with. Hope you enjoy the game. I'll be in monster hunter wilds when it comes out so don't care one it if it does well or not. I'm actually surprised you didn't add incel alt right or something in your post as the rest was just generic, boilerplate, low IQ attemps at insults. Your post would probably be better if it was done by AI but I know it wasn't because it was so unoriginal.

MIrage was a piss take to show the insufferable fanboys always crying about the "old" style of games that the old style of games are outdated and objectively worse than their newer ones when they finally started making AC games as if they were actual modern video games

From what I saw when somebody says "Ubisofts openworld" they mostly mean an open world wich cant be really interacted with, full of filler content and uninspired way of exploring and finding this content. No deep systems or immersive gameplay. Basically just a bland but pretty map, filled with trash. BUT I dont think thats the case anymore since Watch Dogs 2 dropped. Every open world game from Ubisoft ever since was interactable in its own way based on the franchises themes. Watched Dogs now improved on u fully manipulating the whole city and u wanting to see the whole city because of the many unique locations with unique ways to play around with these tools. And fun interactive factions and mechanics that play all into one great expirience. Same for every other game they developed since then. Sadly Ubisoft still messed up alot of times since then. With a few rushed releases here and there and some big scandals here and there. They always improved on every mistake they made and kept beeing this unique developer with alot of creativity. And brought me many many unique expiriences. One of them beeing Roller Champions & Hyper Scape. Both really unique and well made games, both dead right now. Because nobody wants to give them a chance anymore, even with their established franchises sales and players are getting smaller and smaller. They earned that themselfs for all the f*ck ups. But Iam also very sad that these games got left in the dust.

I refuse to buy AC: Shadows because I refuse to support cultural appropriation in any form. Yes, Yasuke was real. However, that's like making a game in historical Africa with a European missionary as the protagonist. Creating games that try to represent a culture's history should have protagonists from that culture...not outsiders. I also happen to know (thanks to a friend at Ubisoft Montreal) that this decision was based on a desire to "show we are modern and in sync with the progressive audiences in the USA".

This was a baffling and possibly costly move... While I couldn't personally care less personally either way, I just know some people, like you, would react negatively. While I don't think anyone would react positively, so an overall loss and baffling move. However, the big buzzword is US media is for players to identify with the characters. Dunno if there is any truth to that beyond mere passing fashion, but there is that. Or maybe this was last year fashion. And new year fashion is fuck everyone, all the proagonists are white teenage girls now, or something? I am a little confused by all the angry shouts...
@raginasiangaming910
@raginasiangaming910 11 күн бұрын
@lloydfromfar the issue for me in general is that cultural appropriation is wrong. However, beyond that why is Ubisoft continuing to dictate our player character to us like we're gaming in 2010? For example, why define Yasuke's appearance at all? Why not let players create their own Yasuke (or the female version if they prefer to play as a woman)? Your Yasuke could be Asian, white, black or anything else. Then, like many other games, you select his talents and abilities to either be a full-warrior, a full-ninja or some hybrid in between. How is it that a self-proclaimed AAAA game developer still hasn't been able to give us even a basic character creation suite? This wouldn't really change the story at all, the world could respond to you based on the talents or choices you've selected (you get interaction X if you chose ability A, or interaction Y if you chose ability B). The answer, in my eyes, is the general laziness of Ubisoft, which is showcased in many recent games. In my eyes, this makes Ubisoft the worst type of Game Master, the type that railroads you into playing the story he wants you to play, the way he wants you to play it. The type that goes onto your character sheet and changes your character around so that it suites his world. Anyone who plays roleplaying games will tell you that this is a game killer that kills player interest and buy-in. I think the effects of this are pretty plain in Ubisoft's consistent underperformance on recent titles. Their 10 year old approach to games development (recycled mechanics, dictated storyline and characters) just doesn't appeal with a modern audience that has experienced open-ended stories/character customization with titles such as Cyberpunk, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc).

@ you made an interesting point, which didn't even cross my mind! But I guess it must have been patently ignored by their team as they could have hardly miss it. mmm... I'll argue that AC games are not full RPG... the character development is rather limited. I would love to have an AC like game with magic for example, shooting elemental bolt and teleporting left and right. Alas it is not meant to be. Still, we come here for the sneaking and parkour in a beautifully huge open world with an interesting story to tell. I think that's their angle that has worked so far.
@raginasiangaming910
@raginasiangaming910 10 күн бұрын
@lloydfromfar personally, I think Ubisoft made a mistake by starting to try and talk up 'realism' and 'accuracy'. I loved the older AC games...and those games didn't really make a huge pretense of being 'historically accurate' and Ubisoft didn't really talk it up that way. The games were about awesome stealth gameplay, action combat and incredible parkour. I feel like Ubisoft should go back to their roots with that, instead of spending so much time talking about 'accuracy' and 'realism' in a game that is essentially about a futuristic time traveler going back in time for an out-of-body experience. If they do want to double-down on the 'historical accuracy' and 'realism', then they need to hire cultural experts and historians from their settings. According to my friend who was a senior programmer on Shadows (until he got laid off recently), they didn't have a Japanese cultural expert or a Japanese historian specializing in that period on the team advising the plot writers. It was considered to be 'unnecessary and expensive' by the corporate powers at Ubi. Ironically, had they brought in such experts it might have saved them money since part of the reason for the release delay was because of concerns about cultural insensitivity.

@raginasiangaming910
@raginasiangaming910 12 күн бұрын
@williambisson8632 I'm talking about over the series. And AC is much more repetitive than say RDR2 which throws in a lot of spicy little random encounters to at least give it the veneer of being different. I think this is the real key. Those small random encounters help to break up the tedium. AC has been a lot of very basic "go here, climb this" and that Ubisoft formula is similar over most of their games. This is a big issue because it's not just one game, it is a formula that has exhausted gamers.
