Everytime somebody brings up the Eagles, like Nostalgia Critic, I wanna slam them with the Silmarillion book until they can sing Quenta Silmarillion. Just so you get the picture, here's the pecking order: 1. Valar. 2. Maiya - Sauron, Gandalf, Saruman 3. EAGLES AND ENTS! 4. Eldars, elves who lived or are descended from elves of Valinor - Galadriel 5. All other elves - Legolas, aka "Dinosaur-elephant killer", as Nostalgia Critic called him here. See? Eagles are generally, by default, more powerful than any other creature on Middle-Earth aside from angelic beings such as Sauron. The Ring has greater influence over its wearer the more powerful they are (which is why they were fine with giving it to hobbits, as they would be at the bottom of the list if I bothered continuing). They'd give the Ring to an eagle, the entire continent would be F***ED! (Side note, of course there are some individuals who are exceptionally powerful and as such they would be more powerful than some individuals who's race is hirer on the pecking order). Also, there is a giant eye watching Mordor, plus 9 extremely powerful servants that ride flying beasts who are, in the books, specifically said to be faster than eagles. The entire point why they send Frodo with the ring was that the only way to succeed was to keep the mission secret. Strangely, a giant f***ing eagle armada isn't really stealthy.

Borsuq: couldn't have said it better. All but the most humble would be corrupted instantly by the ring.
@shayla1064 жыл бұрын
Umm, that would be weird because the books are not the movies. If you need the books or a guide than the movie has failed to explain something.
@catxborsuq14 жыл бұрын
@@shayla106 Pretty sure they said that the ring grants greater power the greater power the person already has, and it corrupts them more easily. You don't need books to know that a giant intelligent eagles must be powerful. I only wrote down that packin' order that I know from the books to better portray my frustration over so many people not getting this. Admittedly, their appearances in the Lord of the Rings were a bit of, shall we say, asspull-ish (including the books, too).

Fun FACT: Christopher Lee upset about the deletion of his death scene in the theatrical version of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King..... No s***. I'd be p***ed too.

To be honest Denethor running off and jumping after he caught fire was a bit weird.

I feel that the saruman scene in return of the King was left out because of 2 small hiccups. 1. Legolas firing his arrow all the way to the top of the tower and still hitting his target. That’s a bit too far to fire in my opinion. 2. How can everyone on the ground hear what Saruman is saying while being that high up in the sky? Sam was wondering where the elvish bread had got to and he found it near the bottom of the stairs..it’s not what the Critic said. I’m surprised he wasn’t smart enough to pick that up. Awesome reaction as always man. Love the nostalgia critic reviews you do. After your done with nostalgia critic, maybe you can give the unusual suspsect a watch. He has amazing videos. All up to you though haha. Great work as always 👍

If I saw these films sooner, stuff like the bread thing probably would've been a red flag telling me "This guy doesn't know what he's talking about! His videos are not worth watching!" before some of his newer reviews in 2019 and 2020 were telling me exactly that. Lol

Leaving comedy to one character alone isn't really a good way to go, unless you want him to turn into a new Jar Jar Binks, and Gimli is certainly above that. A big part of characters in a movie about war and survival is putting them in proportional danger so that you can fear for their well-being. That's one of the big things shows like the Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones are great at. But once we saw Legolas take down building-sized elephants solo, none of the fans concern was ever about Legolas. In fact, all he ultimately did was make the rest of the team look weak, especially Gimli. Heavy armor doesn't take away your balance, in fact it makes you heavy and harder to push around. Especially Aragorn and Legolas wear little to no protection and yet don't have a single scratch on them. The movie kinda forgot at this point why soldiers wear armor to begin with. It's really not that plausible. He's not saying Frodo and Sam ARE gay, he's saying they accidentally come across that way. To me included. They were way too clingy and sweet-talking the other to pass as 'just friends'.

Just to harp on it some more: Gandalf didn't want to carry the ring because of what it would make him do, the eagles are, if I am not mistaken, of the same rank as Gandalf: angelic beings on the same level as balrogs and Sauron himself.

I have recently watched all 3 LotR movies for the first time, and I fell in love with the story. But I saw NC's 11 Dumbest LotR Moments first without context, but with that in mind I was literally looking for the same flaws he brought up, and I gotta say I only agree with like 4 or 5 of them. The worst decision was making it so Arwen will die if the Ring isn't destroyed. It wasn't in the books to my knowledge, and storytelling-wise, it makes no sense.

29:10 in the book sauruman took over the shire and such in the book and they were going to do that in the movie but didn't because it's anti-climactic and redundant.

Omg! The part where he accuses the film of unintentionally making Frodo and Sam look gay... He did the exact same dang thing during one touching moment in Frozen II where Anna is comforting Elsa in bed and sings the lullaby their mother sang to them. I mean they're just sisters for god sake, and they clearly have a strong family-like relationship and stuff like hugging, making em feel better when they're sick, tucking em in bed or even cuddling DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE ROMANTIC THINGS! (Maybe brothers don't often do it, but I'm sure tons of sisters do what Anna and Elsa did, but to be fair, I never had a sister so idk)

From I understand, the eagles are more sentient ancient spirit thingies that are higher than everyone and they decide when they interfere with any situations 🤷♂️

The reason the eagles don't take the ring to Mordor themselves, is because THEY CAN'T. If they do, the ring would turn them into the worst sort of evil the world of Middle Earth had ever known. The more power a being or creature has, such as magical power or divinity, the more likely they are to become corrupted by the ring. It's the reason why Gandalf can't take it, he's not just a wizard, he's one of the Maiar, a lesser god of their universe. The eagles are the same way. It's also the reason why Frodo CAN take the ring. The more simple the creature, and the less power they wield, the less likely the ring can manipulate them. It's why Frodo lasted so long. An evil artifact like that would be best to stay away from Gandalf, eagles, other Maiar, the elves, and the gods themselves. Sauron was already evil, so all it did to him was give him more and more power. It was HIS ring. So, of course, it has a mind of it's own and twists the minds of those who possess it to bring it back to it's master.

@@MynameisCharlie Hence, one of the reasons I turned my back on the Nostalgia Critic in the first place. Cause it seems at times, he doesn't even bother looking deep enough into something and actually understanding it, leading to some people arguing he's just nitpicking or even making stuff up for views.
