@ILikeCrunchyWater
@ILikeCrunchyWater 10 ай бұрын
@@scarecrow5848 I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as "normal Breakcore", is in fact, A/DNB, or as I've recently taken to calling it, (by way of compromise, not of any sort of historical accuracy) Post-Breakcore. Breaks do not make breakcore by themselves, but are rather another free component of a fully functioning musical system made interesting by the chops, high-energy BPM, and frantic changes to drums comprising a full song as defined by breakcore pedants. Many computer users run a modified version of the DNB system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of DNB which is widely used today is often called Breakcore, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the DNB system, developed by the DNB Project. There really are breaks, and these people are using them, but they are just a part of what constitutes breakcore. Breaks are the kernel: the short drum sequences that allocates your brains resources to the parts that process rhythms. The breaks are an essential part of a breakcore track, but useless by themselves; they can only function in the context of a complete musical track. Breaks are normally used in combination with the DNB operating system: the whole system is basically ambience with breaks added, or A/DNB. All the so-called Breakcore distributions are really distributions of A/DNB!

@@jaywilliams720 I refuse to use it because I have no need for it. 28 ears ago I began learning the skill set it seeks to replace. I did so because it was/ is fun. I practiced a lot and became good at it. Now anyone can press a button and doesn't have to master that particular skill set in order to DJ. Why not just play a Spotify playlist?
@jaywilliams720
@jaywilliams720 3 жыл бұрын
@@naughtymonkey1563 bruh, comparing someone using sync to using a spotify playlist is a bit over the top. i can beatmatch and it's important to learn how to but so much more goes into djing (phrasing, key signatures, know what type of transitions work with tunes, live remixing etc.). i respect vinyl djs and if you don't want to use sync, that's on you. but to borrow from another hobby of mine, you don't see pro skaters from the 70s complaining that the modern guys don't skate a 2x4 with rollerskate wheels attatched. modern tech allows for a very different style of mixing as well as keeping many old techniques accesible still, so why not take advantage of it. i will say there are a lot of shitty djs about today though, but that's the price to pay for an influx of creativity and potential new talent.
@naughtymonkey1563
@naughtymonkey1563 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaywilliams720 Because it takes the fun out of it. I like the fact that I started learning to mix when I was 13yo, and by the time I turned 18yo, I was ready to hustle promoters for work. Back then it was an expensive hobby, and a very difficult skill to master, so while I in no way think being a DJ who was lucky enough to get a lot of work makes me "cool" or means anything, it was different back then because it wasn't something which was accessible to all people, because hundreds of hours of practice was required to get good enough at it. Learning to beat mix was the fundamental first step. Being confident (and consistent) enough to drop a record with a 2 minute ambient intro, hoping like fuck the mix was tight enough for the record to still be in time when the break dropped.. it was part of the fun. As was hunting for records. That's a whole different thing though. I'm a product of my times I guess. It's not even about the tech, it's about the fact that the rubbish, overnight sync DJs do not understand how to mix.. 80 tracks in an hour is fucking stupid.. DJing is about the music, not about the DJ, so let the fucking tune play.. I mean if you can pull that shit off like the voodoo AMC pulls out of the ether, then that's impressive, but using Sync to do that is just weak as piss, sounds shite and is the reason why Paris Hilton is "a DJ". Yes, track selection, learning how to work a crowd/ dancefloor, dealing with trouble shooting at a rave or club are all big parts of DJing, so of course there's more to it than just the fundamental skill of beat mixing, but that's beside the point. Also, the time it takes learning to master beat mixing is valuable time spent listening to the music, and learning those other skills by proxy.
