I was there that night, Fratton end, and the funniest thing I can remember was when Kaka stood ready to take a corner and the whole of the Fratton end starting singing "Who are ya" "Who are ya" and then the next second all these flashes going off as people took pics of Kaka on their phones. LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so surreal and just about summed up the night. I'm 61 season ticket holder and been to some great matches over the years, Milk cup 81 16k fans at Anfield all the tic a tate, the Stockport game singing all through 2nd half non stop, Both FA cups and semis, Old trafford and Walshy scoring twice, 4-1 twice against them down the road. BUT this night I will take to my grave as my best time ever as a Pompey fan. PUP

Was 9 when my dad took me to that AC Milan game. Absolutely surreal watching Ronaldinho come on and score that free kick. My favourite ever Pompey game aside from the 2008 fa cup final

It's still mind-blowing to me that I got to see the likes of Ronaldinho, Inzaghi, Kaka, Christiano Ronaldo, Scholes, Thierry Henry, and Steven Gerrard at Fratton Park. For a long time we felt like the little football team that could. We paid for the squad with our bankruptcy, but our FA Cup winning team was insanely talented too. Johnson, Diarra, Defoe, Campbell, etc. If you put together an all-time Pompey 11, at least 6 of them would be from the 2008 season. It was a hell of a time to be a Pompey fan.

Group stage at that time in UEFA cup (Europa league) had 5 teams in each. You get to play each team only once. Either that single game is home or away depends on the draw. Portsmouth finished 4th with 4 points, AC Milan were 2nd, just to be eliminated by Werder Bremen on away goals in Round of 32.

@@theunambiguous I think the hill helped the 6 yard box from turning into a swamp, but it also steered any daisy cutters away from the goal itself. Albeit they had a better idea of the lay of the land so to speak.
