Hey, my family is considering moving to Kalispell, MT. How's the community in terms of being social? Do neighbors talk and visit for dinner or bbq? Do people say hi and engage in conversation on the streets/while shopping, etc? Where we live now (western washington) we try to be social with neighbors, etc, but nobody bothers to accept invitations. We've been searching for a place that's good for raising our family (4 kids ages 11 and under) where we can meet others with similar values and where the community is social. Not sure if we are good fit for Kalispell or not.

@@slandshark If people have little in common with you, they probably won't want to BBQ together. Politics and religion are a big factor. Hobbies come in 2nd. Research and find an area where people fall in line with your politics and religion. I know I don't want to hang out with neighbors, just for the sake of hanging out.... Most people don't.

I am glad that I live close enough to Montana that I can drive on in anytime that I want. My wife would like to move to Eureka because it is a small town and far away from wal-mart. Personally I Love Kalispell, whitefish, or Columbia falls. I would like a big ranch, no neighbors for many miles. I like to shoot guns and hunt!

Yes, it's nice that you are that close. I just sold a home in Eureka to some clients. You can get so much more for you money up there. I'm with you regarding location, but for affordability you really can't write off Eureka. We ate at a cute little diner in town.
