What a project! Keep up the great work! One thing i’ll say, it’s good to see you guys wearing proper PPE (masks, gloves) when working with this stuff. So many people don’t and it’s terrible. Gotta protect yourself

100% Aaron is a literal scientist so he does NOT mess around 😅😂 You should see how masked up we are with the fiberglass lol 😅

@@SarahmSenecal Hey, better to be safe than sorry! I detail cars and recently started looking at how harsh those chemicals are. Totally drying out my skin lol. Gloves from now on

I cut the peaks of the cracks down.I put clear packing tape to bridge the cracks. I waxed the dash with car paste wax. I layed fiberglass cloth.( Not MAT it's to lumpy and bumpy) I put three layers. I popped the fiber glass off the the dash. I cut out the holes for vents and such. I unscrewed the dash and foam. And fit the fiber glass where the old padding and vinyle was. I made fiber glass mounting point from the dash to a few good secure mounting points. I removed dash gave it a good 80# sanding on an electric palm orbital sander. I sprayed bedliner from a can made by Herculiner before it dried I sprayed it with satin black spray bomb paint.I did this on a very cracked 240Z dash ( very similar to what you have in size scope and composition) I fit this 240Z dash in my 280Z restomod. It's a lot lighter, is very strong and it looks kick ass All supplies I bought at AutoZone and Walmart. And good bye cracks for ever and ever. The dash is vacuum formed from the factory so it's made with the same draft angles as a fiberglass mold. This is why it pops off easy.

I've been spending 7 yrs. Resto modding 2 Datsun Z cars at the same time. A 240Z with small mods. And my Daily which will be a 280Z. It's back dated with dash ,tail lights ,front turn signals of a 240Z. And I ripped out all the antique fuel injection for a set of 240Z dual carbs, let's see, I built an LSD, the Motor of both cars. Both are L28's with dual carbs. Both have 5 speeds. My 280 has Rear vented rotors and calipers from a Mustang SuperCharged car. It has vented rotors Toyota caliper conversion, up front.. A wildwood master cylinder, and stainless steel lines including clutch slave cylinder line. Has a mild came, lightened flywheel, 15x7 with extreme contact sports 205/50's.I put a short shift conversion,Headers and a 3.9 final drive. Interior is SPARTAN , I only put two racing seats, and real red leather door panels and headliner. I made aluminum ,racing style floor plates. A 240Z steering column and wheel and a matching wood shifter to match the composite wood steering wheel .Of course it's lowered and sway bared, and a good mix of urethane and rubber, for a bit of performance with out pounding the chassis to hell. People as me when I'm going to be done...but I just pulled a fiber glass hood off my steel hood, and I fitted a G-nose ......I plan on it finished this January. And the 240 by end of summer 2023. Yep it TAKES time, pretty much my spare time. So you doing good at this point. You WILL, get there, you will! Oh I'm painting it myself pearl white and a pretty high rear spoiler just to balance out the G-nose.
