Good luck with the projects. I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress. In particular the R60/5.

Thanks a lot Simon! I will have updates on the BMW R60/5 before the engine rebuild, but as you can see almost everything is ready for an engine rebuild😄 I cannot wait to have all subassemblies done to then be able to feature a full rebuild video from the wheels to handlebars. Thanks for watching and being interested😃👍🏽

Yes, it has been over a month now, but I'm sure I'll have some updates to share with you before the engine assembly video is uploaded (Even though I REALLY want to assembly it)! Thanks for watching, Regards Andreas.

Best to have themput in unleaded valve seats when getting that done. Look forward to more great info, R60 here running great in 0 temps. You can make a depression mold of the crystals and cast them in clear tinted epoxy I used oil paint tint for Lucas headlight crystals 20 years ago.
@WorkshopRebuild Жыл бұрын
I'll discuss that with them once I drop off these parts in a couple days from now. I believe the valve seats can be recut, but it all depends what tooling the machinists use. I'll share more videos about this BMW once I make some more progress, thanks for watching! It's nice to hear that you have a good running BMW R60. Is yours a /5 as well? That's a great idea! I could 3D-Print a mold for the epoxy and then add the correct tint to achieve the desired color. I have a feeling this is the only way to achieve the custom parts I'm looking for and I'll share updates if this works out! Thanks for your help and advice! Regards Andreas

If you decide to look for another machine shop to work on your BMW heads - MaxBMW in the US has the best vintage shop in the country. They can do any kind of work on virtually any BMW engine.

I think shipping is a huge issue I send parts to EU and 10 KGS is about $250 tracked from Canada to Germany as example. Max is a great source for excellent parts though. So is EuroElectric Moto in Colorado?
@WorkshopRebuild Жыл бұрын
Thank you help! MaxBMW offers quality parts with great service and I've already purchased some parts from them in the past. I have inquired to get these cylinder heads machined outside of Canada, but the work costs more than I initially expected and the shipping costs would make it even more expensive. There are many good machine shops in the Edmonton area, but they are currently running a little bit behind. If turn-over times become even longer for future projects, I'll get machines and do the machining myself.

You got that right! Shipping costs add up very quickly, especially with engine parts. I'm looking to get these parts done locally to save some money and maybe in the near future I'll have my own machines to tackle my my repairs. I source my parts from EuroMotoElectrics and the shipping time to Canada is AMAZING!
