It's called Stockholm syndrome, or Helsinki syndrome. You have to understand also that if you aren't a Hot Sexy #10 looking individual, and this person(abuser), although who is cantankerous and has a caveman/neanderthal style of rage. He is her provider. She feels protected by him, at the same time she fears him like a God. And until SOMEONE OFFERS HER A GREENER PASTURE, HOPE, A HOT MEAL, A SAFE PLACE, and a feeling of a way out and a hand up, she has no choice but to do what she is told. You do not know what kinda threats she is facing while you are questioning her. You don't know if she is protecting her child, her mother, her entire family, the Pacific ocean, you just don't know until you put them in a safe place and say, "You are safe here, now can you talk to us." That is how you reach a victim of abuse. Until you take away the threat or harm of something they love
