Many, many thanks for your very fine comment, Mohit! I appreciate it sooo much! Although this is a virtual VST instrument, I put my heart and soul into it to make it sound as real as possible. I didn't always succeed, but I'm reasonably happy with the recording. Again, many thanX(XXL) for your finest comment, Mohit, and all the best to India from Germany & best regards, Volker L. H. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

When I first hear it, accidentally, I didn't give it a thought. Then, it started to haunt me, so I listened a 2nd time. I started to realize how unique it is, a magnolia quietly blooming. Suddenly a puff of wind blowing the branches, 3-4 times. The up and down melody is so melancholic recalling me my whole sad life, moved to tears. It may color the rest of my life.

Many, many thanks for your very beautiful comment, Shuang Troy!! I'm deeply honored, btw! Admittedly, I actually put a lot of heart and soul into this piece. It was definitely meant to sound quite Chinese, and I think it's resonating with a lot of people by now, too. I remember recording the piece at the beginning of May 2011, and the click numbers weren't particularly high at that point, until they leveled off at about 320 clicks. That went on until about November 2011 and from then on the numbers skyrocketed, which made me very happy. Many thanks again, dear Troy, and the very, very best to you, Volker L. H. :)

@@Volker400 Thanks for your reply. I have been listening to it daily, work and rest. Quistions: 1. How is the original guqin composer/player? 2. So, you used 'Key Board' to rearrange it? Very creative and full of sensitivity. 3. So, you are from Germany? You quoted music from Vietnam. Really? I am originally from China. Best regards, Shuang

@@shuangtroy2548 Here I will answer your questions, dear Shuang: 1. I've improvised(!!) the music (see in the title at the beginnig of the video " 'Guqin' " Sound Impro 1" !! It's not a real composition. The piece is completely made by my own. 2. That is not(!) a rearragement, it's the original improvisation played by myself in anno 2011 ! 3. I just compare the guqin sound in some parts of the piece with a monochord called "Dan Bau" from Vietnam, where the sound is pitched up or down, for example, as in this piece. Hope I could have helped you a little bit! The very best regards toyou, Shuang, Volker L. H. :)

The guqin is very expensive, and it can be quite difficult to find just a teacher, good or bad. What you're doing is original, very helpful and fun! So for anyone interested, how does one play a guqin on a keyboard?
@qus.96176 жыл бұрын
All that's missing is the sound of finger sliding, but for some people, they would welcome that!
@Volker4006 жыл бұрын
It's the same question, how does one play a flute, oboe, violin or a complete symphony-orchestra on a keyboard. These are mostly VST-"instruments"(audio-samples) of instruments for computer, so also the guqin-sound isn't an exception. In the case of the Guqin, it's pure intuition to play it, because I know how it would sound, if you want to play legato, "pitch-bending" tones and flageolet. Hope I could help you a bit. Thanks so much for your comment, dear Quinn! Best regards to You, Volker L. H. :)

It really touch me! Could you tell me about the original version and who is the composer?
@Volker4006 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, dear Kittiya!! I'm deeply honoured. This is not(!) a composition, but an improvisation! Firstly I've improvised it, and then edited the audio with an audio-editor-program to a sort of "composition" (for example: repeating the middle-part, then appended the first "melody-session" to the end, so it sounds like a "composition" with the musical-form "A-B-A"). So, what you hear is an "edited" ORIGINAL! ;) Thanks sooo much again, Kittiya, for your very fine comment, and the very best regards to you, Volker L. H. :)

Hi - which VST do you use? Is it the one created by Kong Audio? Someone reverse-engineered their VST to create a Kontakt package so are you using the Kontakt version? I am trying to do the same but haven't figured out how to be as advanced as how you sound like in this upload! How do you switch between different playing mode so smoothly? Do you use multiple keyboards as input and each linked to a different playing mode?
@Volker4004 жыл бұрын
No, it's the "old" version without KONTAKT, as a "normal" VST. The trick was to record it firstly with the "normal option" (partially with playing noises), than to record a second part with only the "guqin-overtones", and then I edited the audio-file it with an audio-auditor, so it sounds like a "composition".
@Jazzzzzzzxxxzz4 жыл бұрын
@@Volker400 I see. The "old" VST you are referring to should be the "qin engine" from Kong Audio right? They touted to me that it's easier to control than the Kontakt version although I haven't tried it yet. My use with Kontakt version is as follows: I set up different playing mode and link them to different midi channels, so on my controller I can switch between channels through pressing the channel increase/decrease buttons on the controller so I can switch between different playing modes live. Have you tried this?
@Volker4004 жыл бұрын
@@Jazzzzzzzxxxzz Only two presets were very important to me: - the preset with the possibility to play the VST-instrument so versatile as possible (I don't know how the preset was called - it's been too long!) - and the "overtone"-preset. I've said it: I divided the music piece into two parts "normal" playing with the possibility to do "normal" playing and portamento-effect(!) and with "overtone-effect" - as the second part. I "designed" it from the beginning & and made the record then (so without switching the presets during live recording - only in this way was a safe accommodation possible.) Btw, it seems to be the best VST at the time, but it isn't really for me! It sounds too clean, and the portamento-effect always sounds the same - that's absolutely unnaturally. The original guqin sound sounds always best! Thanks so much for your comment again. Best regards, Volker L. H. :)
