Hi Ash & Chad, Thank you so much for finally posting a video after your last Christmas Vlog. I want to thank you guys for all your hard work and dedication to produce your many videos. It is very clear from the "back story" information you provide for your videos that you put a lot of time and effort into making them and I'd think that sometimes you might wonder if it's worth the effort. Well, as for me, all your efforts are certainly appreciated; I enjoy them very much indeed! Thank you soooo much. By the way, my name is Rick, and I'm writing this at 4:00 am on 5Jan2025 from San Francisco, CA, USA.

I use loppers to reduce the tree and put the bits in a bin bag to take to the garden to use for mulch and compost. I don't have the radiator on in my upstairs sitting room and have a stove fire for when I sit in there so with a radiator you are better off with a fake tree for sure as the needle loss is higher. I pay a bit more but there is less loss after 5 weeks. The tree I get comes from Scotland and a non drop and exciting to go and get I have to say. What I like is you don't have to appear super efficient and film the fun bits like slippers and getting the tree caught - real and I like that about your filming and personality.

Did you water your tree every day? It's a pain, for sure, but daily watering will likely hold off the drying out thing. Also, if you wanted to get a tree stand that's the next size up, that would also help with the staying power of your tree. You'll likely still want to water daily (until you see that the tree stops taking water). I think you're awesome, and you do you (1000%), but, in case you prefer a fresh-cut tree over a fake one, I have great luck with a larger tree stand (by which I mean one with a larger water reservoir) and daily watering. Both of which help me ensure my fresh-cut tree keeps going most of (usually all of) the holiday season (thanksgiving through sometime week between Christmas and New Year's day. Love your content. I think you guys are great.

My Balsam Hill tree was the best purchase i made for my first Christmas after closing on my first property. Highly recommend it! They ship fast and provide storage bag for the tree and extra set of lights. Chandelier is exquisite. Perhaps put it in a dimmer to soften the brightness especially since it's the bedroom? Just a thought. Thank you Dad lol & Happy New Year!

I have always had a real tree but agree that false is easier and you can put it up at any time but there is storage too. Mice in the loft may have a chew. It is something I have been debating too. The smell of a real tree is wonderful. Tricky one. Love the colours ie dark grey and gold in the sitting room as it is very regal and soft on the eye. Loving the home ones and taking down the Christmas stuff and I will be introducing Spring into the home and garden with daffodils and bulbs and catkins and an amaryllis bulb which I give as gifts and love to have for the next few months growing and the exotic flowers are wonderful.

What a delightful way to start out my Sunday morning.. and 2025…!, Your videos don’t usually evoke “laugh out loud” responses from me…. But this one has…! I must go back and revisit the whole thing and find out what made it so entertaining. It was genius… I was a little sorry you did the removal so early.. but that’s your prerogative. It consumes more space than you’re willing to give up .. I understand. I do think balsam trees are a good idea. I am a purist, at heart, but succumbed and purchased an artificial tree several years ago …and have never looked back…! Kudos to your father (for the patience of Job) repairing and installing your chandelier..!! All the best in 2025..!

Love the way Dougal tucks himself in the fireplace and gets cosy. I do think a grate in there and some candles and lights would be lovely but what would Dougal do? - perhaps lie in front of it. One tip put the pine bits straight into robust black bin bags to carry out to the garden to save all the needles which are not great to stand on and find for months on end. Your garlands were lovely and cleverly put together. Very festive.

Your Father did a nice job of your ceiling Rose, rewiring and installation. Nice touches these, a must for period homes. Lighting and light switches really do matter and stand out. Do look at that loft ladder, people falling from Lofts is sadly all too common. It even happened to me being careless because the ladder was too short. I was lucky, my ankle wasn’t broken. But causality said to me, we see it too regularly. I was out of action for a while, severe sprain. Be careful.

I have a telescopic ladder to get up into my loft which works well. I’d prefer a proper fixed loft ladder really but the hatch is very awkwardly placed partly over the bannister and stairs so it wouldn’t work. It looks like you’d have space for one and I think it would be a useful addition.

If you bought several more toilet seats like that one and put four legs (perhaps something curvy and Victorian) on each, you'd have a remarkable set of dining room chairs that, when not in use, could tuck away quite nicely! And because they would match the seat in the bathroom, you'd have a lovely, unifying, elegant continuity that would amaze guests! By the way, the music you chose as background for the toilet seat installation was perfect! I love your channel and your home, by the way. I hope that you know that I was just joking. But that really is how nice your toilet seat is!

Happy New Year to You both. Just an advice if I may -- Never fast close or forcefully close a 'soft-close' toilet seat or it will break. I know it requires a certain habit-forming call for patience, but at close to 200 Euros per seat, forcing it can prove costly! Just initiate the closing gesture and leave the room, the rest will be taken care of. Jean-Louis
