Kamaru makes so much sense. In boxing, Mike Tyson was so hungry in his prime, which is why he was so devastatingly effective, but once his mind became distracted he became the shadow of his former magnificence!

If that was his prime, his prime only lasted until he was 23 because that’s when he lost to Buster Douglas. I swear most people who talk about Tyson like he’s great don’t watch boxing and probably don’t know any other boxers.

Usmans fight persona was cringe . For me , I had a different opinion after the Khamzat fight I can’t stand fighters personality when they sell fights , I get why it needs to be done I prefer the fighters at their lowest point , at a stage of complete humility and acknowledging their weakness . When they admit , they need to improve and that them losing was down to them and not external factors. That shows true strength

If you look at Connors fights his entire style changed after he fought Mayweather. He made his nut off that fight and set himself up for life but it fucked up his mma game. He doesn't do all the kicks like he use to to keep the fighters off him. His stance changed. He's more of a boxing style for him now. He use to throw out those stabbing kicks and roundhouse kicks to keep people away. He's never been the same.

Conor was in camp for months, there are videos of Conor preparing in camp for Khabib. As for drunk argument, thats ridiculous, Conor made 155 lbs weight, cut the weight with no problem. If you people think you can be drunk and cut 15-20 lbs weight at the same time then you have no idea how it works. Conor finished Cerrone 1st round after his fight with Khabib, same Cerrone didn't get finished by Leon and Leon lost 2 rounds vs him.

7:20 he’s so right I’ve always felt this way. There’s probably not much athletic difference between 30 and 40, from what I’ve seen, as long as you continuously train without damaging yourself. It’s the years of literal physical abuse that gets MMA fighters more than anything. If you have the exact same guy start fighting at 30 for 3 years, his skill level probably will drop a lot less than a 25 year old fighting for 6 years.
@mrfatuchi
@mrfatuchi 5 ай бұрын
Thats so not true. The speed drops and especially reaction time. Even if you were perfect health with no injuries the sheer loss in speed and reaction time just makes you one step behind the young opponent. This is why heavyweights only can fight relatively old because they are already slower than whats humanly possible but even they are visibly slower.
@angelolacap9681

@kimeriksson7445
@kimeriksson7445 5 ай бұрын
@@mrfatuchiWell, science has shown reaction time to naturally start deteriorating at around 24 years of age. If you actually train reaction time though (along with having good health & nutrition) you are able to keep roughly the the same for quite a long time. I'm also of the belief that sustained damage/injuries over time along with continued weight cutting is a massive factor here.
@Raumance

I don't know if you have turned 30 but there is a difference. You don't recover. You can't be as explosive. Tom Brady can play to 45 because he only needs to throw. But Tyreek can't because reaching 30 you can't have that violent explosiveness anymore.

I get his point but it's all about mentality and dedication. In football, Ronaldo is the richest footballer and has achieved so much but at 38 he still plays with hunger and practices discipline in training which translates in his performance. 2023 he is one of the highest goal scorer in football along with younging stars like haaland, mbappe, kane. Even LeBron. Playing a physical and active sports for about 20 years, actively, breaks the body. Yep, the key element in all Professional sports when you reach 35 plus years of age is RECOVERY, because the foundation & fitness has already been built, but to "sustain it" when we age is all about how much time & energy your body needs in recovering in order to push it hard over and over again. What he says makes sense to most people because it’s logical and it’s true in a lot of ways. But he didn’t need a belt to make millions. He won a belt and then went and fought for another one. If he was focus on the belt, why would he fight both times when the title fight backed out? Then fight Diaz again for no belt? People only say these things because he lost to Dustin and then he broke his leg in the first round, but most people treat it like Dustin beat him twice and that’s it. Why fight again at all after that if he doesn’t have something within him? Plenty of fighters kept fighting after making a fortune. Why? The answer is complicated. But I think Nate Diaz said it the best, and most simply when he said that there’s no feeling that can compare to it.

I deffo thibk Connpr can deffo have another super good run but the reason i think he will struggle to get a strap is because for 1 i dont think hes got that 110% drive anymore because he knows hes already made it. And for 2 thers way to many people with top level ground game and a pure striker like Connor will always struggle against em. But on the feet i dont see many if any beating him so thers deffo plenty wins for him to take. Unless hes all of a sudden got super good take down defence and a good ground game then hes always gna struggle to get another strap. Plus 3 years off hes gota of lost some speed. But only takes 1 from that left so if he come across a grappler or a ground fighter if he can get that left in early on before they start gassing then maybe but its gna be hard when hes already made it ya know what i mean he doesnt NEED to fight now he just WANTS to. The old silk sheets saying

Ppl say this a lot and I get it, but this is a different situation imo. He's worked so hard to get healthy and still is but he doesnt have that hunger? Why put yourself through everything and do so many things you dont have to do? Because Conor loves fighting and has been kept from it in 2020 after cerrone W and after the leg break. We all wont know until we see him in there and see how he moves, reaction time, distance management, etc. Another point, when some become champ, some lose that drive as well. Which is worse?

Conner lost the eye of the tiger once he picked up the belts and the massive, massive paydays arrived. Money killed his desire and drive.

Cono’s mine is elsewhere with his parting, business, and Ireland. UFC 300 would be a nice send off, but other than that he’s good as gone.

I think this whole “he’s not hungry enough” is such bullshit. To think that it was almost a decade ago that Connor fought Jose Aldo and was arguably at his best and that the game and level of fighters has changed, is way more of a factor than his motivation. The calf kick has changed the game so much more than anything. If it was just pure boxing mainly in MMA, very few people could ever math Connor. Game changed, injuries and his age are the only really factors

Agreed but the wealth also effected him, getting more money in one exhibition boxing match than his whole ufc career also played another part...

Conor at featherweight was the real deal. It was pretty clear he wasn't going to dominate at lightweight. Just doesn't have the stamina and the well rounded skillset to go on a big win streak at a weightclass where he doesn't have a majoe size and power advantage.
