Matt, I am an 81 year old male born in New Orleans, LA and raised in the bayous of South Louisiana. I found your channel on KZbin several months ago and have become a hooked watcher. Your environment is so foreign to me because of the height, mountains and dryness of where you operate. I have enjoyed your videos and have particularly enjoyed getting to know your family. Your wife, Angela is so cool! She can do anything and is not afraid to try anything. Your son has been blessed with the situation with his leg after the terrible accident. Your daughter, Lizzie, is the perfect "Girl next door" that every mother hopes her son gets to meet. Keep up the good work of rescuing stranded folks and as we say in the bayous, "Laizee le bon ton roulette" Let the good times roll. God Bless.

Angela, I've been driving for almost sixty years and my philosophy is the same as yours, treat the half full mark as empty and you will NEVER run out of gas. There's always exceptions of course, but after all my years of driving all kinds of vehicles, I have never run out of gas.

When dating my wife used light to decide to get gas. After learning “if you run out, in this rain, at night in NE YOU will be walking for gas. I will go along but you will walk in the rain. OR you can stop here and I will put on 5 gallons” Now she fills above 1/4 tank. Close to half.

Tom, My wife and I used to both work for a big box home improvement store and I got stuck delivering a fridge that a customer was promised that day. This was on our prearranged "date night". I took her with me and we ended up going to a town an hour away. Afterwards we took the delivery truck to a drive in movie that was in that town. My wife still laughs and said it was one of the most creative date nights we have ever had. Work can get in the way of life sometimes, but you can always find a way to make it work for the best.

I am 67 years old and my mother told me when I was 16 yrs. old, refill at a half full tank! It doesn't cost any more to fill the tank to full than filling up when almost empty to half full, and if needed you have more fuel in reserve! Plus living in New Hampshire, with a large variance in temperatures, I will have less problems with condensation, in the winter with icing in the fuel lines and filters! Thanks to her advice, I have never run out of fuel or had a fuel icing in the winter months!

Wow, 9psi on those gigantic tires and it's still not always enough! That's absolutely nuts. I can't imagine driving around on the road at 9psi either. We run 11 out on the sand on Cape Cod and I don't like to drive on pavement at all until I air up if I can help it. Then again, if you were airing up and down every time you did a job at Sand Hollow you would probably go through valve stems like tictacs. Love the channel, keep up the great work!
@NBSV1
@NBSV1 Жыл бұрын
With the big tires and a relatively light rig they can get away with low pressure. And, those tires might have a stronger sidewall that better supports at low pressure. I think they also don’t drive particularly fast when on pavement.

✨🙏🌊💙🌎💙🌊🙏✨... when you're son mentioned that you guy's need a way to trek faster through the sand🤔... consider this...if you get a medium sized dirt bike that you could haul on the trailer with the vehicle you're attempting to rescue... you all could utilize it for instance... when you go to a location where you're not too sure the exact coordinates to do a patrol of the area and map out a route for your rescue vehicles...even in the sandy areas you could trail the rescue vehicles....or... consider training everyone that is operating the camera to also operate a drone,so that way you don't need to trail the more difficult rescue on foot.. also the drone can be used to collect data, like mapping out best route or simply finding the costumer quickly in a rescue 🙂... hope you all stay safe out there, thanks for the adventures.... For Tom; (lifted from the net) Pre-ignition is a situation in which the fuel-air mixture in a spark ignition engine ignites before the timed spark. Detonation is simply the spontaneous combustion of end gases ignited by reaching their critical temperature prior to being reached by the normal flame front. Pre-ignition can lead to detonation. Pistons are better than they used to be, but detonation can still break them, sometimes taking the block with it. You can carry some octane booster to add when good gas is not available. Cheaper than an engine. You can also take some load off the engine so it makes less heat. Slow down, and/or downshift until it cools a little.

Yes I hear you about the octane rating because they typically use 10% ethanol so the real amount of octane is slightly under 79.2 octane gasoline. While 91 octane is 81.9 gasoline octane with 10% ethanol = 91 octane total. First they took out the lead, then the additives, then add 10% ethanol, oh the humanity! Interesting tip: having trouble keeping your go-pro steady without all the expensive accessories; well just grab a chicken "live" and strap the camera on its head, it naturally keeps its head in a fixed position. So steady that it is actually better than the most expensive equipment on the market. 📹🐔 true info, fact check. Now you know. 💫 Have a good week and count your blessings amen. 🙂👍👌👋
