Gotta love how crux doesn't mention the fact that China's SMEE had already manufactured its own 28 nm lithography machines which is extremely important in making semiconductors,all that is left is to manufacture them on a large quantity.Onces that's done the SMIC which is China's largest semiconductor company(and currently 5th or6th largest semiconductor company has n the world) will be able to mass produce even 7nm chips(TSMC was able to make 7nm chips even 28nm DUV lithography machines) Once that's done,the TSMC loses majority of its significance

@@Conan-ny1um Actually yes. The data I have seen so far indicates that majority of the countries have chip manufacturing as deep as 5000-1200 nm. Even the most advance ones have 150 nm+ in fabs. China has done incredibly well for itself by building a 28 nm lithography machine. The latest 14 nm - 5 nm chips are only required in smartphones and Pc. Anything above 150 nm is considered advance in various industries.

@Aqua Fyre Semiconductors also use Arsenic, Boron, Oxygen, etc too, Boron is used as a dopant in Silicon to give the Silicon substrate certain electrical characteristics so that components like transistors can be made, Oxygen is used to create silicon Dioxide, which is an insulator, metals like aluminium are used to form the interconnections between all the components etched in the Silicon Dioxide wafer, and then there's all the chemical etchants used too, precious metals, like Gold, are also used to make integrated circuits as well, but yeah, a lot of the plastics used in the semiconductor industry are made from oil and petrochemical products.

I was worried about this too. but I think it's pretty much a wrap at this point. Nato waited far 2 long to get involved hopefully and this war is gonna be over soon for the most part. The Russians took out almost all of Ukraines refineries oil depots and weapons depots. They are soon to finish off whats left of the Ukranian army in the east. Azov is already finished for the most part. The remnants are held up in a massive steel foundry getting hammered by artillery and not being re supplied. The Ukranians tanks r useless soon w out fuel and many have been destroyed already. To prevent a needless massacre Zelensky should surrender at this point but he wont bcz some of the the not so great ppl around him wont allow him because they realize they arent surviving this outcome. The Russians will take all of eastern Ukraine probably Odesa also and leave western Ukraine and Kyiv eventually establishing a dmz in btwn. Hopefully Poland doesn't get any ideas about Lviv.

Technically USA didn't even move any of their military marine mains units from Asia to Ukraine. It would have become a large problem if Putin was able to capture Ukraine and control the food supply but from the ongoing development. Russia is becoming a declining power and so has its military might as what was proclaimed as "the world's 2nd strongest army". If you remove the nuclear technical weapon - I am not even sure if it can beat India/Beijing anymore with so many failures (not just logistics) exposed in this invasion. Putin either got egged into doing it by those who can benefit from it or repeated its history with Afghanistan. "Taliban with 60-80k troops was able to throw out Nato forces in days, we have superior unites... so it'll just be a matter of 2-8 days for Moscow to capture the capital and at least half of Ukraine" >____> That didn't work out well and over 1/5* of the top general were lost in this invasion. *The loss within a month far exceeds what Nato/USA lost in Afganastan over the period of 20 years. Needless to say; many civilian casual will rise as the war continue even if it does weaken Russia which is failing to pull out swiftly. Also because Putin had weaponized Oil/Gas and even give an indication that he'll nationalize any foreign company that wants to exit Russia. Even if Ukraine signs a peace deal with Russia - the sanction and the mass exit of the investor* will continue due to a lack of security. *Exception may be Beijing - who may want to move into the Russia market during its fall but that's itself is a big gamble because unlike their investment into other countries that can mount economic pressure on those nations. Pussia might just seize those companies with or without any valid reason and Beijing won't do much to support those investors.

This is a flawed logic. Most technologically advanced countries can produce their own semi-conductors. The issue is that with the exception of Taiwan and South Korea, they cannot produce the most cutting edge chips in such a way as to make a profit in the global economy. Taiwan, while very advanced, is only a few years ahead of Chinese and US foundries. In the event of a world war, the globalized economic system that has been built up in the past 30 years will likely collapse, leading to more regionalization of economies. Absent a highly competitive and efficient global market for semi-conductors then, the value of those few years of lead time TSMC enjoys would be greatly reduced. In other words, fighting a world war over chips would be highly counter productive as the initiation of the war would destroy the value of the thing it is fought over.

Hope this opens your eyes and your perspective:::::: At a Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) conference in late June, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo declared that Washington could “shut down” any Chinese semiconductor company caught selling to Russia since “almost every chip in the world and in China is made using U.S equipment and software.” Now what she is refering to are called lithography machines. Only and only USA knows the entire technology to produce them. Neither Samsung or TSMC have any clue. Thus you see that USA was not a fool to decrease it's market share in semi conductor business decades ago when it exported it's silicon Valley to it's colonies in the far east. It has the absolute control over technology even today and shifting factories to cheaper labour market made the US companies richer.

I think the biggest threat to the chip foundaries in Taiwan, and Korea, is not from China's military attack. The most realistic threat is actually from the US. Many companies from Taiwan and Korea are asked to set up their foundaries in the US, generally without much economic sense to the companies but more to the benefits of the US. However threat from China remains large, if China managed to produce top end chip, with their massive production capability, game is practically over.

everyone including elon is designing microprocessor. TSMC, Samsung, SMIC is producing the physical microprocessor based on those designs. 2 very different things. $3B is not enough to build the manufacturing facility.

Nice video, flawed logic. Military technology does not use, yet, high end consumer 3mn or less chips. 20+ is quite adequate and every great power can make their own, just as they have their own independent GPS.

Hmmm several of Russia's military-grade items that were captured by Ukraine found out that many of the global chip was used. This was part of the main reason why chip export was banned/limited since they can be served for dual-use.

@joem0088 2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelwang6125 Yes global chip means generic chips, not the 200$ each 3nm chips for your iphone and Macbooks. And why wouldn't you use generic chips when the whole usage life is just a few minutes in case of a missile.

@joem0088
@joem0088 2 жыл бұрын
@@docm7583 Exactly. For most IoT things you don't need 3mn chips. Look at all the chips in cars, in cockpits, in GPS, in household appliances, even in mid-price PC and tablets, mostly 20mn+ chips. All the big economies have foundry capacity for those.

Psalm 37 37 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. 7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 12 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. 13 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming. 14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. 15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken. 16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous. 18 The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away. 21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth. 22 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. 23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. 26 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. 27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore. 28 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. 29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever. 30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment. 31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide. 32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. 33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged. 34 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it. 35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. 36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found. 37 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. 38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. 39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. 40 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

All sovergn nations can produce those chips, I mean all ! Tiawan's TMSA is a conglomeration of nations making chips of which only some have the natural resources to provide to TMSA to produce each company"s or country's desired chips, I believe. Imagine if Taiwan couldn't obtain the natural resources to produce chip for and via any country? That would be a problem, especially with direct and indirect worldwide backfiring sanctions being imposed? Who would be the cause of the death of tiawan's semiconductor production? Who would be the victim of the bombs and missles of the powers whose direct and indirect sanctions? Do you really think the U.S., NATO and European countries would start savagely going to war against each other, if Taiwan's alleged TMSA is halted due to the vicarious and direct effects of sanctions? Or would a propaganda blame game start as a pretext to start a war with some other country? Just food for thought considering your theory viewed from a different angle that could happen and put other countries with less military might in extreme danger?
