I drove drywall screws part way into the wildly unlevel subfloor of my guesthouse bath. Once I'd found the high and low spots I adjusted the drywall screws up and down until all their tops were level. I used a thin piece of trim for my dam at the entry door where the floor was pretty high. Then I poured in floor leveling slurry, screeded it to the height of the level screw tops. When the slurry dried I removed the screws with my drill. I had a level floor surface to lay my vinyl floor covering on. I spent weeks of restless nights to solve that one. Thank goodness I don't do floors for profit. Love watching you and Tony collaborate on project problems, but shopping with you two is my favorite activity since gardening season is over. 😘

I binge watched your channel after seeing you and Tony help Patrick with his heating system and just now watched your latest episode. You and Tony are such a joy to watch, Tony’s DIY skills are amazing, you are the kindest, most upbeat person. No wonder you have so many friends. I don’t know if I missed or you never mentioned it, but why did you decide to cut your hair, it’s beautiful, but such a drastic change is a big decision. Love from Buffalo Grove Illinois(suburb of Chicago)

Hi Linda thanks for the lovely comments. I have had my hair in this style before, then I usually let it grow through the summer and tie it up, but it hasn't been this short for ages, much easier to look after though!

Oh I really love the floor in the Gite. Beautiful. I never noticed it until this video when you were showing all of the goodie’s Tony got to put in the gite. You paned over to the fire place and I just loved the stone floor. I never tire of finding new things in all of y’all’s different chateau’s. I HEARD TONY SAY OUT LOUD THAT YOU ARE RIGHT. SEE IF THEY ACTUALLY PAID ATTENTION MORE OFTEN WE WOULD MAKE ALL THEIR JOBS EASIER.

Really enjoyed that Jane. Reference to the protective film on the shower base. A friend of mine a few years ago bought a new TV but struggled to get a good picture. He called the aerial guy but to no avail. He was sitting watching it when he noticed a loose bit of plastic in the corner of the screen, got up to pull it off and pulled off the protective film from the screen. It only took him eighteen months to realise.....

So the underside needs to be lightly built up with cement and leveled. Then set the shower tray on it when dry.

I am curious about one thing? Why do you use a shower trays? We mainly do showers with tile floors so you don’t need a tray and that allows the footprint to be bigger. I’m a big woman and I would always worry I would break it because it’s plastic. Here at my home I have one bathroom with a tub and the second one has a walk-in shower with a shower curtain. Some put glass but I have a curtain. Then across from the shower controls I have a bench that is tiled so I can sit while using my removable shower head and over the top I have a rain shower. You can use one or the other or both at the same time.

It's easier for Tony to fit the cabin type showers Rowena, and the price works out much better , I'm a big woman too, the shower in the gite is more than big enough for me, and I hate showers where the curtain clings to you! I understand the worry that the base of the shower "creaks" but they are sturdy as long as they are fitted correctly, it is not a "luxury" bathroom but it is very comfortable to use, and better than a lot of French accommodation!.

@radiogramgramophonetoons5802
@radiogramgramophonetoons5802 Жыл бұрын
@@notquiteachateaudiy ……… I’m sure it’s sturdy. I was wondering how it was manufactured ? The actual tray might of been ejection moulded and then dipped into a gel coat solution. (Don’t think made by hand-not sure) But it was the added tubular steel on the underside that I was referring to in my comment. That has definitely been added on afterwards with laminating fibreglass Matt over the steel to hold it in place. That fibreglass was what I was referring to, I can see it’s been done quickly without any real care. I can see fibreglass spikes and possibly some dry Matt. No big deal Jane 🙂 I worked in the fibreglass industry for several years, making roofing gutters/down pipes and rainwater heads, so I noticed it !!! 😂🙂
