so I started a couple more serious season 11 vids before the finale aired, and I don't want to be a buzzkill, but that episode broke something in me I haven't been able to fix yet.
I hope I'll get to them in the future, but in the meantime, I finished an older more light hearted one.
We got some great Scully moments in season 11 that reminded me of why I love the character so much but I felt like the finale took all her agency away once again. I felt compelled to do a vid that highlights it.
Its not that she unafraid- Its that she is, but charges out there anyway. Shes not afraid to be who she is or fight for what she believes in. I also love it that Mulder frustrates the hell out of her, but on some deeper level, she loves it because he challenges her.
I thought there were moments in season 11 where I could detect a Mulder-like recklessness about her- like she just threw her hands up and dove in head first...I really liked that because it represented a further character development for her, and one that I felt was plausible of someone who has embraced her life and has nothing to lose anymore.

This is such a fun look at Scully. I love how badass she is. Mulder is always losing his gun, but Scully is the one taking down people twice her size. Also, I feel that post-MS4 struggle.

EmLee Gee i even defended IWTB bc I could see the character arc for Scully even though the plot sucked, but I cannot get past this "Surprise!!" Agreed. I liked IWTB even though it was a bit weak. But yeah, the whole medical rape and then how shitty William turned out to be and how Scully was like "It's fine he's dead because I'm preggy AGAIN (at 54!)." And there were too many moments where she was the damsel who needed to be rescued by Mulder and it was just so insulting to the character and I don't blame Gillian for leaving in the least. And I'm sure if she had been allowed in on the storyline, she wouldn't have done this latest season either. Because damnit, Scully came so far, she didn't deserve to be kicked back

As a fic writer who has spent the past 25 years getting under this woman's skin and trying to understand every feeling and thought and memory, this passage of the vid spoke to me on a really profound level.

🙌 THIS!!! 🙌 I just wanted to say that I felt completely the same way after the finale and I still do. The only word I can think of is bereft- not because it gave no closure for our duo, but because it undid/dismissed so much of what came before, and in contradiction to Scully’s character. It was bad enough making her give that baby up in season 9 (also out of character), but ugh... to resolve that by having Scully wring her hands of him as nothing more than an experiment was soul destroying 😩. Thank heavens for your videos- you capture the characters and the essence of the show beautifully ❤️. They’re the best ones out there xx

Fi83Vi omg YES. They took an already stupid thing- Scully giving William up for adoption- something that was SO inconsistent to her charcter- and made it 100 times WORSE. It made Scully look like she never really cared at all even though we watched her struggle with that decision since season 9! Then CC reduced her main value into alien breeding stock...grrrr- I can't get over it :< Anyway, Thank you for watching and I'm so glad you like the vid. I feel like a couple shit episodes shouldn't invalidate all we as fans know to be true of Scully's total awesomeness and why we love her

snakey973 absolutely! I am still grateful for all the wonderful Scully moments across all seasons, including what S11 had to offer. I just wanted so badly for her to have some resolution to the emptiness and guilt she has clearly (and understandably) been suffering since season 9. I find it so ironic that the adoption plot point was written as it was thought a baby would be a distraction in future movies, when in doing so William took on a central role as an absent character; the white elephant in the room that couldn’t be ignored and whose absence derailed Mulder and Scully’s relationship. Given how many nods S11 gave to the fans, I’m amazed they couldn’t foresee this ending being poorly received. Amazed but not surprised. Thanks CC 🙄🙄🙄.

Hi snakey973. Great video as usual. As far as I am concerned, I am not going to let Chris Carter's resentment (yes I stand by this strong word) of the Mulder/Scully romantic relationship get in the way of some of the most beautiful and natural interpersonal dynamics I have ever viewed on a computer screen. I am not surprised that we did not see Mulder and Scully kiss in season 11. It is Chris Carter who was involved after all. Anyway, I know I am rambling. Suffice it to say, I am not a fan of many aspects of season 11.

I'm choosing to believe CSM was lying just to mess with them. The tag line for his episode even read something about a lie. And we were told many times lies are out there. I do think that last part in s11 was abrupt. But I think our leading lady finally accepted her son does not want to be found and she's trying to talk Mulder and herself into letting him go. I don't think it was done as well as it could be but thats what I believe. The truth is out there but so are lies. :p

Penscreen hey Pen, thanks =) Thats not how i personally see what happened in IWTB- s 10 (although it was not a good season overall), I think it was very complicated, but it was never really explained to us either. Instead we were left to hunt for clues about what the hell happened to them. I think that sometimes in extreme grief, people stop coping and the loss of a child certainly qualifies. I've seen it happen irl. ❤
