I think that Hisoka literally saw (the nen) in Gon at the exams : they were going very easily though all tests even though their nen was all over the place and not trained - remember that he can see the nen of others with Gyo. So he literally saw that they can be much stronger once they start training with nen and that Gon especially learned zetsu just like that to track him down in a very short amount of time. Also, Gon's determination (eyes) impress Hisoka - he sees himself in him. Remember that Gon was not trembling because he was afraid of Hisoka but because he couldn't contain the exitement for the fight? In a way that is exactly how Hisoka is at it's core - just a little creepier (probably because he is an adult and developed this as a kink... Gon is still too young for that XD).. This is also the reason he wouldn't let them pass before the 200th floor for the matches - he did not want that sb. destroys them with their nen since there are no rules and people are out to kill or irreversably injure you (he saw very well in the match with Hanzo that Gon will not give in even at the cost of a limb or his life). It was to protect them so they are prepared for that stage and also to save the fun for himself when they are ready of course. He is a good, unique and very memorable character.

I'll try to make the six categories as simple as possible. Enhancer=Enhances person or object properties Emitter=Shoots aura, think of using nen as bullets Transmuter=Changes auras properties, we saw Hisoka's but you can change it become something like fire hot/burning like fire but it doesnt need to strictly follow natural properties why not an aura attack that can spread like fire but whatever his actually freezes the target for example. Manipulator=Use aura to control objects or living beings Conjurer=Using Aura to make something Specialist=Basically everything else, anything that cant be put in the other 5 categories goes here

Hisoka is always entertaining when he's on screen and he adds the element of surprise to any situation. He's also so smart and a great fighter.

Remember kids, having critical media literacy is important! You can enjoy a character/ what a character does for a story, and completely not align with their tastes, actions, and thoughts. Hisoka being a power sexual is true, however, he doesn't have a line drawn when it comes to kids, so he's still AT LEAST somewhat representative of a nail filer, and you can enjoy his presence in the story without having to defend it in the slightest.

Something I appreciate about HxH and other media with a depth of lore is that there's a lot to know if you WANT to know it but you don't NEED to know it to understand the story. People who want to dig into and learn all the details of Nen have a feast to enjoy and people like me can just skim the surface and enjoy the flavour it adds. yeah the pdf file thing with hisoka is meant to show that he values power and potential over anything and it heavily goes into a sexual direction that, no matter how charismatic he is, he is still far from good or atleast if u think you see something "good" in him its just because action x/y benefits him, he is neutral but leaning towards beeing naturally evil as he has no morals and restriciton and in general doesnt think like a healthy human, he doesnt have a problem with seeing a kid in a sexual light as long as it (gon) meets his standards for power etc. so yes he is ill and weird and bad but yet he is not unreasonable and plain evil he is a weird inbetween thing just like his "sexuality". he is not quite a pdf because he is not aroused by the fact that gon is a kid and he also shows interest in all kinds of people as long as he finds their power, potential and hypothetical battle intriguing, gon just happens to be a kid if that makes sense. So yeah this kinda plays into hisoka as a character in general, he is this weird inbetween and you cant quite put your finger on what he is, you just instinctively know he is bad even when he shows a "human" side he is this weird dark grey tone thats not black nor is it grey. This is also what makes him so interesting as he is his own entity and doesnt operate in any reasonable way he is basically a well written charismatic psychopath and he feels also pretty "real" because of togashi writing. So dont worry carlie you are meant to feel uncomfortable and weirded out by this scene but also you kinda cant fully HATE him even after that right? You will still be excited when he comes on screen, he is a really interesting character.

Fun fact Killua probably wasn't meant to have the role he currently has. Cause him not knowing nen before this arc is a bit of a plothole which will be more obvious the more you watch. It's a small "flaw" of the way Togashi writes. he doesn't really plan anything and mostly improvises the story.

I think it's more evident that nen didn't exist as a concept until after the hunter exam and was retroactively fitted back in like it was always intended. Mystical abilities that aren't nen (like the assassin techniques) stop being introduced once nen hits the scene, after that all special powers are nen or just monster biology. Silva doesn't even bother using those assassin techniques when he fights, despite being hinted about how amazing he is at them by Killua earlier.

I don't think that it's a plothole. Remember that Silva send Killua to Heavens Arena and told him to reach 200th floor, where Killua was supposed to learn what Nen is, but he quit before that, so even if Killua or Nen weren't part of the plot at the beggining it's still can be explained why Killlua didn't know about Nen before.

24:50 I only get what he learned in that fight when I watch this show on second time. Gon said something when Hisoka was going outside the ring and this was " he's strong, but not unreachable ". So Gon said to us what he learned and that was this "I can do this" experience

It's a testament to the writing that despite how incredibly problematic Hisoka is, he's still such a beloved and popular character. He's nothing if not compelling as an antagonist.

it's made pretty clear Hisoka is turned on by Gon's potential, not his physique. The sexual arousal is misleading for sure, but thats just Hisoka
