NOTE: The video on Alycia's end was a little messy initially in this video (pixilated and not sync'ed with the audio). I'm guessing it was an internet issue. It gradually gets better after about 10 minutes in. Also, out of curiosity, I let KZbin auto insert ads into this video. It inserted 15 ad breaks. LOL. I dialed that back to 3.
@PinkLady542 жыл бұрын
Thank You kind Sir on the ad breaks :-) Alycia has been in my rotation for a quite while. I also NEED desserts. ;-) Unfortunately after going squeaky clean keto for a bit I am finding I really should NOT be having them. Even fairly squeaky clean treats just don't do well. Any sweeteners are less than ideal :-( Dam!!! Erythritol & almonds have been out but now... DAM! I am left with clean veggies & meat. BUT IF I stay clean for a while maybe I can get all my health & energy back & clean treats will be OK again. If I said it once, I said it a hundred times - YOU ROCK!!

@@PinkLady54 I was like this a while back and found that I just can’t have Almond flour anymore. I think my body built up an intolerance over the years. I am happy there are now different things to use these days. Lupin flour and Chia flour all seem to be ok. But when I stick with Dr W’s Page 4… everything is fine.

@@jdmosaics Thank You for the reply. I'm sorry You are having to go through this too. I don't know what "Dr W's page 4" is; can You give me more information so I can study it. I really am not happy with my lack of health when I work so hard to eat well. Thank You again for the info.

When my husband's grandmother taught me her cake recipe the best tip she gave me was: always read the recipe even if you think you know it by heart. I've passed along that tidbit to everyone whom I talk about baking.

What a great interview with Alycia. I do think that she has great baking skills and if you do what she says, you will have a better outcome. Some people skip things or say "that's good enough".... like when beating a batter, or creaming eggs and sugar. If she is saying to beat something for 8 minutes, you should beat it for 8 minutes. Sometimes people are just too impatient and then wonder why their baked good didn't turn out well. Good luck on the bakery Alycia!

Regarding the "gateway" concern: my feeling is that if there weren't lower sugar/lower carb options out there, when I do get cravings I'd be reaching for much more harmful alternatives so I'm glad these options are out there.
@craigslitzer48572 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. I see it as a gateway towards low carb, not away from it. Over time, eating low carb has lessened my sweet tooth. I think it's sort of like how much weight you can bench press - everyone is at a different place and has different needs & tolerances.

I am usually in tears when I have to bake something, I hate having to look for keto ingredients, so much easier just to reach for the flour and sugar canisters, grab my other ingredients in the pantry. Now I feel like a scientist looking for xanthum gum, different flours, different sugars, very frustrating.

Another great interview. She's new to me, but I'm definitely going to start checking out her videos. I think it's wonderful that she's willing to devote so much of her personal time to help others on keto make delicious foods they might have thought were no longer achievable. One of the difficult aspects of going keto for me is that I often feel a bit isolated as I'm the only one in my family doing keto, so we rarely eat the same food, and at parties there's usually little I can eat, so you feel like the odd man out. Her making foods that are usually at parties and celebrations accessible can help reintegrate keto eaters into the social aspect of eating with non keto people. My congratulations on her wedding, the pregnancy, and her new bakery! I wish her great success. I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on the honey substitutes when you've got that ready as I really miss honey mustard.

Which gives me confidence if I have to buy a special ingredient because I know it will work! Thank you for doing this. I have subscribed to several keto cooking YT, and I noticed more than half of time, recipe turns out not so good as they are making it out to be, sorta like mason jar ice cream, yeah, I tried that one. It's discouraging to have bad outcome. Her YT sounds more promising that I wont waste expensive keto ingredient on trying out the recipe. I subscribed and will be trying out her recipes with better confidence! While some people feels like this is gateway and rather to not eat any sweets, it's good on them, but for some of us, it's better than buying questionable "keto" sweets in the grocery stores when we have cravings. I tell myself to say no when I go to the store but I still grab chocolate chip cookie with low carb, even tho I know it have terrible ingredients, absolutely not good for me! But only reason I'm buying it is because I'm craving choc chip cookies, I have not yet found perfect choc chip keto cookie recipes. If I had one, I would not be buying that. It's good to have those recipes out there so that we each can have freedom to have better healthier dessert alternative! 🥰🥰
