Thanks for a great chat! My keto body changes include no more acid reflux, much of my gray hair has reverted to its natural brown, no more pre-diabetes, no more high blood pressure after 20 years on meds, no more gas, no more brain fog, my arthritic thumbs that have no cartilage no longer hurt, my carpel tunnel symptoms are gone, I haven’t had a cold in over 2 years, my nose no longer runs constantly. At 65 I feel like I finally figured it out after a 50 year weight problem. I no longer have a weight problem.

This was such an excellent interview. I’m not familiar with 2 Krazy Ketos before today but, I’m definitely checking out their channel after today. A lot of the “side” benefits of following keto that you all mentioned, I’ve been experiencing as well. That’s the best thing of all for me. Losing weight was my number one reason for getting on it but, four months in I have less inflammation in my joints, less headaches, and less reliance on allergy medications. I’ve also turned my parents onto keto and my youngest brother and his wife are also keto as well. The good news is we all live near each other so we’ve been a support system for each other. Without that, we all wouldn’t have been as successful as we have been. Always appreciate your videos, Steve. Thank you!

Consistency over perfection. Pain is a powerful motivator. Plantar fasciitis was the motivation for me. I had 3 injections in my feet. I'm now able to live day to day without pain. I've been maintaining 63 pound weight loss for 6 months. Love this WOE.

My major improvements since going keto has been over 80lbs of weight loss, reduced hA1c (almost normal with out medication), reduced blood pressure meds, no longer taking medicine for acid reflux, testosterone levels went up, triglycerides cut in half, HDL up a few points, carpal tunnel syndrome is in remission, and definitely less gas. I started this journey in October. I understand about the wife being a junk food queen. She is a registered dietician and yesterday she realized that she normally only eats 20g of protein a day. Probably 90% of her calories come from carbs.

Wonderful. Thank you to everyone. I really appreciate keto lifestylers sharing both the good and the bad. I was born in the late 1950s grew up, or should that be grew out, during the low fat era and it has taken me about 6 months to get my head around it being okay to eat fat. I have recently also increased my protein intake and it is making a big difference to how satisfied I am with my food. And the not being hungry most of the time is fantastic.

In 2013 I broke my left patella (kneecap). I was told I needed knee replacements for my degenerative osteoarthritis. The research into joint replacements scared me &*%$less. I didn’t have the time or the money to do it and decided after this consult to do whatever I could to avoid surgery. After my break healed, my “therapy” was driving my Shelby GT full time instead of just for pleasure. A really stiff clutch provided just the right “therapy” to strengthen my joint. After that, I kept looking for ways to get healthier without drugs and surgeries. Keto has also now healed my 15 year bout with daily IBS-D symptoms. I will never go back to S.A.D.

I live in B.C. and don't know any groups here. My son age 40 has been on keto several months, and looks great. I did do something similar in my 20's probably Atkins. I was concerned about ketosis and kidney issues. I was a slim 120 lbs all through my adult life, till I got pregnant. After menopause I am 67 now, I gained about 2-5 lbs each year, it slowly creeped up. And because of hip and knee issues from hip dysplasia I had hip and knee replacement, so am not acitve these last 20 years. I am on keto for 2 months now and doing fasting as well. I am concerned about just recently having my gallbladder removed and I am wondering about excess fat, because my liver is handling it all alone now. My other concern is about excess skin, and how to get rid of it. What do you think?

I too, have a spouse who is not keto, and just barely tolerates it considering I am the main household meal preparer. He thinks wholegrain bread is the healthy bomb, cuts all the fat off his ribeyes, and faithfully knocks down his cholesterol medication every night. Besides the loneliness of doing this keto/low carb thing alone, there is the worry about his health, about how cholesterol meds might be effecting his mental acuity over time (he’s a pilot, so sharpness is important 😳), and his complaining about needing surgery for his knee when I know a month on keto would probably help that. He is a product of the times we grew up in, and his mom was a big low fat, no eggs, no butter, and here is your dry chicken breast proponent. But whatchya gonna do 🤷‍♀️? So, bottom line, all y’all…..thanks for being MY support group!

I really empathize with your situation. My wife isn't quite to that point yet, but I already recognize the signs that she is going to have health issues soon. Sadly, her entire family has a very cavalier attitude about their health - the whole "you gotta die of something" mentality.

Tbh, speaking of Steve’s wife Terri. Whatever she’s doing, she looks great! She’s obviously very physically fit and slim. My family and most of my friends have the same attitude as hers....“you will die of something eventually so let’s just have fun” and boy do we have fun. 😄. Most of my fam live well into their late 80s....so I don’t know If I am 100% on board with a healthy eating style leads to longevity thing in every instance. Explain all the 95 and 100 year old chipper Germans in my area hanging out in the bars and festivals and dancing the Polka right into their coffins. Those people all seem to live until 100. Many of them just lived very simple, humble lives and definitely ate their Kringles on the weekends and didn’t shy away from other pastries, donuts and the sinfully delicious bread baskets at pretty much any restaurant you go to on Wisconsin. 💁🏻‍♀️ And lots and LOTS of BEER. 🍻 I’m all about the benefits of Keto. I’m a believer and I’ve lost weight on a keto diet. I just think that many people are either prone to certain diseases or they’re not genetically, and length of life is determined pretty much by our Creator and whether or not you make really bad decisions here on earth....I always say you only have so many heartbeats. Why are use them up before you have to? (That was sort of in jest). Long story short is I guess it’s whatever works for you. I am slimmer on Keto, have more energy and mental acuity. That’s good enough for me.
@PinkLady54
@PinkLady54 2 жыл бұрын
@@pjbecker6722 I used to be like Terri, always thin & toned too... until my disease process was full blown & down I came like a house of cards :-( After insulin resistance & autoimmune hits, You may not come back. Keto has helped with weight loss & bringing my A1C down but I still have very bad health. A lot of the oldsters don't have the addictive issues we have, they don't sit & over eat junk all the time. They don't just sit & watch tv, they still garden, volunteer, dance & have lives. As long as insulin resistance hasn't set in, You have freedom to eat or drink more carbs than after it hits. Dr Sten Ekberg has a couple video that explains why Asian ppl's used to eat rice & stay thin & Mexican ppl would eat corn & stay healthy but that is not the case now. Each of us has to own our own numbers (food choices etc) & health consequences of those choices. But I sure wish I had had some indications that my health was indeed leaving me, for what now looks like may be the rest of my life, back when I often ate Haagen-Daz & Oreos along with a cigarette & Pepsi :-( It is not a joke or erroneous fact that diabesity is a pandemic.

@@PinkLady54 Thank you for asking! I had once, years previously, put a seriously epileptic dog on a strict ketogenic protocol based on the suggestion of a veterinarian. The dog improved a great deal. He went from several grand mal seizures a day to several petit mal seizures a month. We were able to cut his medications which improved his life, and ours, dramatically. Actually, the diet SAVED the dog’s life and he died of old age. So I knew that a ketogenic diet did SOMETHING for the brain. After two years of being housebound and bedridden, I started to read publications and found that there was Ketogenic research ongoing with brain injured military personnel and there seemed to be some success if the treatment was begun early. From there, I went on KZbin and found Dr.s Jason Fung, Eric West, Ken Berry and all the other notables. I was very sick and very damaged. For two years I sincerely wished I had not survived. I have some residual effects, lots of cranial nerve damage, some post herpetic neuralgia if I allow myself to become overly tired or stressed. I have a few other issues. But I’m out of bed. I’m out of the house. I can walk. I can read and write. I’m stronger and healthier every day. :) N of 1

what is LMHR & seems most of the keto vloggers are talking about - maintaining & growing stronger to me... their weight loss is over. that's what Joe & Rachel were saying with all the biking etc & Steve with his 30 day challenges to see what really helps grow stronger/better in all ways & maintain. What specifically are You thinking/needing?

@@PinkLady54 LMHR - Lean Mass Hyper Responders. These are people who have more of a high or super high cholesterol when they try keto. Go look for Dave Feldman, he is doing a lot of research on this and has been part of the community that is saying that LDL is not a marker for cholesterol totals. I started keto at 350 lbs. as a weight loss diet. As I have lost over 120 lbs so far, I have also gotten all my markers like A1c, triglycerides, blood pressure, arthritis and such under control. It has turned into a lifestyle because I believe it has saved my life. I am able to get out now and move more and do more things.

@@rikwen96 That is such great news about Your weight loss & improved health!! Congratulations! I don't think the AMA has any true interest in health. They appear to only be interested in economic gain at the expense of true health IMO; so taking any of their advice seems counterproductive. Some of their testing can be beneficial to get markers we want but their advice sucks ;-) Thank You for replying & helping my ignorance ;-) May You continue to be blessed with more & more health as You listen to Your body.

@@PinkLady54 May you have many blessings also. I argue with my doctor every time I go in for my annual physical. She wants me on statins because of my cholesterol, I tell her no. I understand that is what she has to say since she is following the rules of the health clinic she works for. I am responsible for my health and doing what I think is better for me.

Great information, Steve. There are still so many folks out there that do not know what the Keto diet is or how it works. I have stopped trying to explain it to them and just say I am on a low carb. diet. Keep the great information coming, it's awesome!

Okay... You got me, Steve! You mentioned 2CrazyKetos for months now. I kept thinking, "I don't need or have space to follow one more keto channel. They're probably just more of the same anyway!" Well, if this interview is anything to go by, I was WRONG!!! Totally wrong😆 They seem delightful!! I definitely have room / need to follow them. I'm so glad you interviewed / introduced them. It's interesting to hear that Keto has conferences. Apparently, KetoCon is in Austin, so next year, I'll have to drive 3 hrs to check it out. Great job & content as always!

Great interview / content Steve. I was very interested listening to all the "benefits" you guys listed off. Only one thing that I noticed (since I am in a similar situation as you ) was they missed the couple conversation discussion that addresses the challenge of one of the spouses not following Keto. Other than that they are an amazing and positive vibe humans.

Awesome interview 👏 Absolutely, carbs were pushed to the general public and caused the obesity rate to skyrocket. There is a direct correlation for sure 👍
