It depends on the region not the entire country practice it. It's the culture of Central and Western Regions.

Many years ago, for 3-4 years in a row, we went to Wineba on 1st January to witness the competition of mascareders, brass bands, and people on walking on stilts. It was a great cavalcade, always a memorable sight to behold.

I can't even describe how terrified I was of those when I was little😂😂 Our parents used to threaten us with them...that they'll let them come for us if we're naughty
