I grew up with the greens of j the 60s. These shades are"hospital greens" because all hospital rooms, corridors, exam rooms, etc were green. Green is my favorite interior paint color. I really love the sign, I guess because it's different. Great job on that breadboard too. My momma had a green one.😊

I love all that you do!! I remember when I first found you when almost all your projects were either white with black undercoat and distressed or plack distressed with Waverly antiquing wax to finish it off!! Now I never know what you're going to do woman!!! You have come such a long way and are now open to so much more ideas and techniques!!! The old timey green is my favorite, so many old pieces are painted that way. I like to dirty up my things too! your terra cotta pots are an inspiration, i bought a whole bag of about 10 for 5 dollars at GW some aged others i am aging , putting them in a crate outside .

That residue on the wooden breadbox that sanded off? Its grease from the kitchen mixed with dust builds up. You can use a razor blade very carefully to scrape it off. Or the Mr. Clean eraser works too.

Would have liked the swan better with a whiteish beak and eye, the old sign is wonderful! I've always wondered if the lettering on the glass (bread) is removable... the leaded glass is a classic effect, but the lettering screams billboard. You really take all the extra work to make your pieces special.

I’m so jealous, you seem to find so many bread boxes. I want one so bad and although I get to my resale shops at least once a week, I have never found one. I want to find one in the wild, because I want to paint it the color of my kitchen cupboards. I’ve been looking for about a year. I’m getting kinda discouraged.😩

What a shame that you had to go through all that work when you could've come to my house and could have a bunch of painted pieces. My hubby took apart a good sized garden frame and the wood is just laying around in the weather. I love weathered wood but, I prefer it in the raw. Oh well, maybe next time lol. Loved the bread box! have you every painted one of the old tin bread boxes? I just donated one because the outside of the aluminum? was just in terrible shape and I had no idea how to redo it!! Inside was all rusted also--just wonder if you have a video on redoing old tin or aluminum items???

What is the difference between milk paint and chalk paint? And do why do you prefer milk paint (benefits). Also I’ve seen the bags, how long would they last with doing small project. I love the black swan even before you added beak (I would buy it for my house 😂 black my fav color). I’ve been dabbling with chalk paint and making my own for certain colors. But I love how dark the black is.

I find that milk paint is giving me a true vintage look ( chippy, crackle) without having to add anything else to make it do so. Chalk is great for the distressed look to see underneath paint color. But just have different benifits. It all depends on what you want to achieve as your end results.

Taking a chain or other heavy metal objects and pouncing your hammer on the chain or metal piece against the furniture is a way that I’ve seen woodworkers age wood. My father was a carpenter and did that to ceiling beams that he put up in an old farm house that he was renovating. It was beautiful.

So you took new stools, beat them up and painted them green to make them look old. But with the frame, which actually WAS old, beat up and green, you painted over it for a faux old finish.

**QUESTION!! I want to order a bunch of Milk paint and the Patina stuff from Dixie Belle, and maybe Jolie black Wax that you use all the time. Is there ONE place I can get it that Yvonne YOU get the commission and credit or no? I'll admit that I love natural beautiful wood pieces, but not all wood pieces are created equal. I also love painted pieces and the combination of both painted and wood. The only time I have a heart attack over a piece being painted is when it is truly a quality antique or a rare, special wood species in restorable shape. I'm even okay painting the antiques, but I really wish those that do would put on a couple coats of shellac before painting them so if someone down the road wants to restore the piece back to wood it's much easier to do so. Not everything is an antique and not every antique is worth restoring, so I'm of the opinion that whatever someone does to a piece to keep it in use and out of the landfill is a good thing. Many antique pieces really are not functional for the way we live today and are simply kept as decor unless we modernize them into something useful and beautiful. Antique beds are one of the things that get me. So many of them are so ornate and beautiful, but they aren't sized right for most of us today. There are only so many special homes (bed and breakfast etc) that want them and museums only want the most unique or high quality ones, so as much as I hate to see them taken apart and repurposed, it's better than the landfill. At least the beautiful craftsmanship of them lives on into the future.
