Nkululeko My Brother, let me be honest neh… you sometimes piss me off on your other youtube channel but on this one👌. I could listen to this the whole day, you are smart, your questioning and reasoning skills are superb. You don’t interject and do allow expressions fully. Dope session, keep growing…

You can ague all you want but this man Nota speaks so much sense especially on the part of Bathu and Drip. These according to my view these guys are just in the business of distributing Chinese products in the name of black owned. The real work and real money goes to China... With manufacturing, more and more people can be employed other than just importing stuff with your custom design and logo. Government people should listen to these podcasts.

Well to Nota’s point about “American wanna be’s” Lucky Dube did Reggae and that’s what made him pop. Reggae is not South African but people weren’t too wired or ruled in a way that made them not to listen to him just because he’s not from Jamaica. If a white person from Scotland does electro or pop music and is good at it, globally people wouldn’t care where he/she’s from but enjoy the music. Tarnishing the names of Nasty C’s, A Reece’s and their work promotes division and is a good e.g. of what the apartheid was trying to do. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I'm not concerned about where Batu and Drip are made...but does it not sound more concerning that these companies, MAKE IT KNOWN how many stores they are opening, renting in the Malls, and paying shop leases worth Hundreds of thousands....but not once is it known how many units of shoes they sold. I mean you would know how many Jordan 1's were sold annually by Nike. Man I know how many Addidas Superstars were sold...Yet nobody can tell you how many units Drip and Bathu sold? Their success looks sketchy AF!!!

I think the reality is, the kids who are sounding like the international hip hop genre are competing with or are trying to compete with the international artists. It’s inspired, and a proof that they can produce at that level. No matter what Notas opinion is, String and Blings was international standard - a record way above SA quality.

To be fair almost 98% of any stunt an SA Celeb pulls before releasing a song, it never makes any impact...It just doesn't work...It' may generate a gang tone of streams at the beginning, but it's only for a day....Also Stogie T's music barley makes the impact like ever, the Hip Hop market in SA is small...Like a tiny Private School wanting to be known worldwide...against what? A massive market that evidently listens to house music? I mean even Gemini Major dropped a heavily influenced Afrobeats Album that barley cracked the charts...I mean had he pushed that album in Nigeria it may have got into the Top 20 on the KZbin Music list but SA Ain't even giving that an ear...The market is small and it's audience is not enough to get radio stations or television excited....SA Hip Hop broke grounds when it started sampling old House Tunes, that was the trend around 2013 to 2016....That made it cross platform and those who were lucky used it as a slingshot to release pure Hip Hop tracks that could turn a House Head into an SA Hip Hop fan....That should not have made them take their foot off the gas pedal, Hip Hop was not out the woods yet into being established but I can tell you this...The Hip Hop artists did, they thought, Baby We Made it and then relaxed...Now here we are.

Dude sounds smart, but his analysis is way off, South Africa do not have artists to advance their sound, why there is a danger the sound will fall out of favour. Right now is west and east african keeping it relivant, cos south africa do not have artists big enough hence the low streaming numbers and low KZbin views.

amapiano is not hip hop, be it an adaptation of Kwaito which is equal to SA's version of Hip Hop, we can call it what it is then because a version of something is not a true representative of the actual thing.
