This song is great to listen to to let out that rage, and then rather focus on how I can meet those people instead of buttheading them without getting anywhere.

The heaviness of the title is unmatched. We don’t realize just how many people in our world sit somewhere in the middle because social media and the news depict everything as so black and white. It’s widening the canyon between the two extremes as we speak. The closer the song gets to the end, the more you begin to feel deep-seated fear and anxiety arise, like someone’s finally vocalized the feelings the majority of us have but are too scared to speak about for fear of getting cancelled, losing friends, etc. This song is terrifying in every way but it’s so necessary.

3:38 OOOOOH man, it never even occurred to me until Conor mentioned it that ‘the liberals aren’t liberals they’re just as venomous, and you can’t have an opinion unless you’re one of us’ was poking at the left as well, and good god does that resonate with me as well. There’s a very big ‘purity culture’ problem on the internet especially where anything or anyone that isn’t 100% squeaky clean gets automatically and irrevocably ‘cancelled’ by large numbers of people, and if you don’t agree you’re also classified as problematic. It’s making objective and honest discussions increasingly difficult, and navigating through those who are rightfully upset and people whining just because can be so mentally exhausting. All that just to say that Joe’s lyrics (and NBT as a whole really) are absolutely brilliant, this song just got a whole lot better (which I didn’t even thing was possible at this point) and I wish more people would listen to this because it just blows my mind every single time.
