The way the lyrics have a justafiable dig at “MAGA-hat wearers” and their beliefs, but then in the next *breath* turn on the hypocrisy of their opponents - “But now the liberals aren’t liberal they’re just as venomous, And you can’t have an opinion unless you’re one of us, No second chances, you’re branded, your kind are dangerous,” - *THIS* is what we need! Instead of everyone jumping on one side or the other, contributing to the increasingly destructive polarisation of politics/social discourse, saying and thinking nothing original and only adding their voices to an already saturated chorus of bullshit, we *need* more people saying *fuck* this, and asking *“And if I fucking hate you all am I a criminal? Can you afford to be an individual?”*

So damn true, people demonise you for being neutral or "fence-sitters" as they like to assume. But in actuality we're just logical human beings who look at the extremes of both sides and see cults where there should be intelligent people. The smartest people take bits and pieces of genuinely good ideas from both sides of the political spectrum (and take out the objectively terrible ones that lead to radicalisation and toxicity, such as Religious Indoctrination, Xenophobia, supremacy, class divide by Conservatives and SJW culture, extreme socialism, cancel culture, though this applies to both sides as well and the stereotyping, labelling culture, from Liberals.) There are positive policies and ideals from both sides, once the idiotic ones are removed, that combined, would allow for a truly equalised world. Unfortunately we have one or the other and both lead to a society that is ultimately shaped by the images of their respective sides without a society for everyone. People are allowed to be neutral, they're allowed to look on at the entire political landscape and hate it all, detest it all, think it's driving our species apart. I don't join "sides." That locks me into a cult mentality where I must ultimately believe absolutely everything that side believes in otherwise I'm demonised for it. No, I'm not narrow minded in that way, I choose what I believe in and if those ideals should ever happen to come from both sides, that just means I'm actually committed to being unbiased and doing my own research, devoid of bias from others, and making my own mind up on an issue without being dictated by one side or the other. That's how we come to create new ideas, new solutions, are we bridge divide and come to agreements that work for everyone, even if they aren't the "absolutes" that they wanted. We are an extremely diverse world, ultimately, we have to create a society that ensures not one group or ideology is granted complete power over another, there has to be boundaries and rules, there has to be arrangements and lines. Complete balance is what should be strived for, not victory for one ideal or the other. Society cannot be controlled by one singular vision, it requires multiple to maintain order and keep things in check. If there is too much power from one side, we get this, pure anarchy and chaos where one side is at war with the other, desperate for power and control because one side is a victim of the other and vice versa. Balance is the only way forwards for real progress and change, whatever this is currently, this is just childish squabbling in the face of the real problems out there in the world that we need to face and address and we can only do so when we're United and acting like adults. It's easy to be purely driven by emotion, I understand the difficulty, but we can't solely act based on our emotions lest rationality and logic give way to the death of critical thinking and true freedom, we'll all just be clawing at each other, emotionally fuelled, to over power another so our visions can take over, whilst never bothering to listen to anyone else or see anyone else's perspectives. This failure was because Government's around the world on both sides have pushed for extremes and "taking of sides" to get themselves elected, it's been nothing but selfishness. We need true leaders who understand the importance of addressing the visions of ALL people and cultivating true equality and order, taking on the weight and the stress of having to maintain and keep it all in check so nobody is ever able to over power another, which is what leads to the destruction of stability and pushes towards divide, class warfare, race against race, religion against atheism, gender against gender, ideals Vs ideals and so on and so forth as we dance in a perpetual cycle that we can't escape from because we will always be oppressing some group, whether they be bloody the whitest, xenophobic, Christian fearmongers there are or the blackest, LGBT, immigrant there ever was. There will always be someone who believes they are the minority and they are the counter culture or the ones being hated by humanity. We need to shape the world towards allowing them to stand side by side, even if they hate each other, but allow them to have their respective rights without too much authority or control, to be kept in check so that all of us have rights, so that all of us are free. It is extremely difficult, it's why most societies throughout history have constantly failed that path and have had consecutive wars time and time again, because we're slowly having to evolve to the eventual time where we find the answer to how we can solve all of this and end it. It probably won't happen in our lifetime but some day it will be achieved, it is the inevitable endgame of mankind. So I don't need to be told to pick a side or be told I'm sitting on some damn fence, I do take action based on what I see from both sides, it is seeing what the most rational path forwards is that I really seek and I won't subscribe to pack mentality because of influence, manipulation or pressure. You are allowed to be an individual, that's the most basic thing we are taught as kids, that we are all different. We all can't be lumped into groups, it's just not how reality works. Also note, the things I listed above about both sides are just a few of my nitpicks about their beliefs that I believe are destroying society and dividing it further. There's way, way more and it gets deeper and deeper. This is all coming from a 21 year old, Gay, Australian guy with Asperger's. And trust me, I'm no stereotype and I don't fall into categories or groups or even solely defined by any communities I fall under. It's all about who you are and what your actions say about you that's the real judgment.
@kraygarde.73254 жыл бұрын

Extremism on any side is dangerous for everyone. Some sides really are just black and white (like Nazis and racism). But most everything else is more nuanced than people believe. We just think it’s black and white because of the Internet echo chambers a lot of us have trapped ourselves in and the polarization we’ve been subjected to. Social media has a lot to do with it.

Music nowadays is about releasing songs every week. But then NBT releases this and it’s so good that I’ve been listening over and over since they released it. This is how music should be, not fast food.

They came through a few years back - if it wasn't for everything going on, they'd be here sooner than we're going to have to wait for. They came to tiny venues when they were here too - so crazy!

It's about time more artists started railing against the stupidity of the online culture wars. They're ruining culture, setting back progress, and making us all miserable.

MY GOD... you guys are fabulous! I discovered your band by looking for ENGLISH new bands. I always make researches as to find new music. You are IT!!
@djhero00714 жыл бұрын
Just wanna say that the song is great. The band manage to touch on the problems of people echo chambers and how both sides of the political spectrum are flawed. Extremism is never good for the extremists in my eyes. It only ever helps the opposition. Very few things in this world are so simple to be purely in black and white (like Nazis and racism). It’s important to take a look at the whole picture and realize problems and issues can be more nuanced than they seem. With that being said, if anyone from America sees this, please vote. If you are eligible and still can in your area, vote early. It helps with keeping the polls from being overwhelmed on Election Day and keeps you safe from having to interact with people and possibly catching COVID. Right or left wing, don’t take your right to vote for granted, especially on as contentious of an election year as this one.
