This song scares the shit out of me. I listen to it while I watch my husband sleep and the knowledge that someday, despite any efforts on either of our parts, one of us is going to slip away first and the other will be left with nothing but memories and the feeling that this song perfectly encompasses - a desperate, hollow, emptiness that aches like the vast expanses of empty space between stars. One day, no matter what any of us do, all of us leave... and the ones unlucky enough to have truly loved us are left with cosmic holes that can never be patched or filled. It's enough to make you terrified of ever getting close to anyone again. But then you do - you meet the one person that makes you think "oh it wouldn't be so bad" - "maybe being close to someone is nice" - but it's all a trick of the light. They're so magnetic and beautiful, drawing you in and trapping your heart in their smile and their laughter and the way they look at you when they think you're not paying attention; it's all so captivating and nice and lovely. It's not until you stop long enough to think about the reality ... that neither of you are getting off this rock alive... and one of you will have to go first... that you realize it's not the getting close that scares you; it's the question: If I get high enough, will I see you again? Or was that as good as it gets?

Dammit. I didn't expect this to be so deep, I wasn't trying to cry at work. That was beautiful. The best we can do is love everyday likes its our last and not hold back. The end is inevitable but who knows what's next. Its not to be superstitious and wonder that I'm gonna see everyone I love today again after we're long gone. I don't know how but I don't need to. My best friend who has Asperger's and multiple personality disorder once told me that myself and the rest of our friend group and family are in the wrong part of time. At first I was gonna put him down then I realized we're all depressed fucks longing to be in a different time period all of the time. Who knows. Life cn either be filled with fear longing for the unknown and anticipating our untimely demise that might send us into a dark abyss for eternity. Life's fragile, learn how to handle it and it'll be the most glorious thing ever.
