Absolutely! Also, it's this idea that when women are upset it's because they're naive or childlike, not that they're actually going through something. All the times Taylor's been accused of "playing the victim" or being "over emotional" when she's sung about her experiences and feelings. Im sure many women can relate to that!

As much as it sucked for Taylor to lose her masters just like that, these re-recordings might be the best thing that happened to us. It's been a year since you made this comment, but I just have to say at 38 I understand. What I've learned though is that there's beauty in that feeling. If you feel broken, it's because you love. If you feel hopeless, it's because you had recent hope. You can only grieve what you had. You're only comfortable in the dark when you forget how warm the sunlight is, and you don't want that. You can't grow without pain, and can't avoid one without robbing yourself of the other. So jump in with abandon every single chance you get. Embrace the fact that it might leave you broken and do it anyway. Be willing to pay the price for beautiful things, love them for as long as they last, and when they break plant flowers where you bury them and jump in again like you don't know what loss is.

Honestly, there's a reason this was her first really sad heartbreaking album: because being a young woman between 20 and 25 is SO hard! You've experienced some real shit now so the fairytale view that you had about your life is being lost and you're realizing the world is a lot less predictable than you thought so you're grappling with being lost in it all. I'm glad she released this now. I don't think it would have meant as much to me at 19 as it does now at 29. I feel like I am at an age where I really understand this feeling. Because our culture so often says that women (particularly female entertainers) have a shelf life! That somehow you're useless after 25 and that there will always be some, newer, younger girl to replace you. Even outside the entertainment industry, my friends and I feel those same pressures. Our society basically says that life is over by 30, which is INSANE, and simply not true!!! I really believe that as long as we are alive, we have the opportunity to continue growing-up and learning, but I completely understand this feeling of insecurity in the uncertainty of getting older.

This whole song perfectly encapsulates her fears and anxieties of getting tossed aside by the music industry and the public over something new, which she didn't want to happen to these younger artists as well. Every time I come back to this song the verse "I know someday I'm gonna meet her, It's a fever dream, The kind of radiance you only have at seventeen, She'll know the way and then she'll say she got the map from me, I'll say I'm happy for her then I'll cry myself to sleep" blows me away and fills me with such.. peace; Because she's met them now. She has these people! She has Olivia Rodrigo and Conan Gray and Maise Peters and all of these young artists who saw her and thought "I wanna be just like her" and she is nothing but ecstatic and encouraging and protective of these young artists. She was so afraid that she'd be bitter about the "next Taylor Swift" but she's not afraid anymore. That's just really beautiful to me.

Poor Taylor during Red was probably contemplating if she’d ever see the success of Fearless again. She was truly on top of the world and won all those Grammies. Speak Now was successful as well but way more low key. She thought she knew everything at 18 when she gained all that fame but then became scared of becoming irrelevant. Now with new stars like Olivia, Taylor doesn’t care about not having as much fame as them. But she’s so talented she’s still as relevant as ever and wrote even better albums!!

I'm in my early twenties and this songs describes this age so well, because you are expected to be an adult now, but you literally just got out of your teen so how can you already be an adult? To me your 20s just seem like a leveled up version of your teenage years, but people expect even more from you and are less empathetic. And while you might have been one of the smart kids in high school, now at university you are just one of many and you used to think so well of yourself, but now it all feels a little too much and you feel like you can't keep up, but you will have to eventually, because you are no longer a child and you will have to look out for yourself now, because noone else is honestly gonna do it. Okay, sorry. That was just me being an anxious uni student. Bye, have a great day!
