Nothing Phone 2a Review - Wow! I Did Not Expect This at All!

I'm using Nothing phone (2) . The "flip to glyph" feature is wrongly being accused of being a gimmicky light. It's actually a very simple basic feature but so useful. Simply going in silent mode when kept in flipped position and then simply going to normal mode once you take it in your hand. For me it's definitely a USP. it can be appreciated by those who really want to focus on work/life than notifications

BIG BIG YES. I am a phone (1) user and i use the glyphs every single day. Flip to glyph is an everyday essential. My phone is on vibration all the time, and i can honestly say, ive missed more phone calls when the phone was facing screen up, rather than face down on a desk. Also in the past 2 yrs tech used in Camera lenses and Processors have advanced a lot, so it's always better to buy a new phone. You can wait for Phone 3 or if your budget is not that much then Phone 2a is also good but the storage is UFS 2.2 which is not good for storage data transfer.

I use the Glyph light on my phone 2 almost everyday. It is not something I cannot live without. But it definitely, makes life easier. I use the glyph timer as a pseudo pomodora timer for my studies. And I almost always place my phone face down, so the essential notifications are a life changer. So yeah, I am in love with this design and the brand Nothing. Pretty good stuff.

Great review. I think I saw the phone lagging when opening up apps. That delay is all too familiar to me on my A54 (also UFS 2.2). They shouldn't have cut down on that, considering how smooth the rest of the software is.

I am a phone 2 user from the day it launched, Glyph is a part of my life now: - i use the volume indication while running to quickly check at what volume am i listning music - Glyph timer to set a timer when motor is on for filling the water tanks, so that i dont forget it - Flip to glyp (i used to keep my phone silent but this now is a good balance: silent when working and when moving around in my pocket, not silent) - Calander 5 min countdown is very helpful in motivating me to get up and get started with the task asigned eg: while working in the morning i can see the lights pop up 5 min prior so that i know i need to stop working and get up for a running session in the morning - Recording a video with glyph on is just sooo frekin cool - Infact while writing this i can see the calander timer has started indicating me my work time is about to start in 5 min, bye lmao

Ufs 2.2 is a major cost cut, especially at 28k for the variant I'm interested in, add a case and a charger and that variant crosses 30k without any offers. At that point, you'd feel the lag that brings in day to day usage, especially camera processing. Guess i should wait for holi for any price cut on the NP 2.

Im a Phone (2) user and YES, i use the glyph lights on a daily basis. Obviously its one of the reason i spent money on this phone so i have to try it out before pushing it away saying its a "gimmick". ~Glyph Timer: Definitely a great feature and better than the traditional timer on screen anyday, i use it for pomodoros, workouts etc. Eliminates the need to check the screen for timers. ~Essential Notification: Hands down one of the best glyph feature to date! Yes i keep my phone facing down to flex the transparent design and use the glyphs and the important notifications catches my attention better using the glyph lights than a black aod does. ~Artificial Lighting for Camera: Never expected this, but the glyph lights have proven to be really useful when you need artificial lights for shooting videos etc. Its literally a moving artifical light that moves with your camera. Have used it several times for indoor videos when more light is needed. ~Flex: ONLY MY PHONE IN MY WHOLE FRIEND GROUP CAN DO SOMETHING COOL ASF LIKE THIS! lmao, the way it catches public eyes whenever u are in a cafe/somewhere public is unreal. Rest of the features do serve their own purposes but i couldnt make it as useful as nothing says it is, but anyways here are a few solid features proving that glyphs are NOT A GIMMICK! (It isnt a gimmick if theres atleast one working useful feature).

7200 is powerful than a 782g , i dont if that's true at all , sd 782g is on match in terms of GPU and CPU with sd870 and sd782g even outperforms exynos 2100 in terms of multi-score performance . First time I saw you used Franco Kernel Manager. Does it give more accurate SoT than battery tab in settings? Pretty problematic to calculate SoT nowadays in some UIs as MiUI/HyperOS etc. Also does it give more accurate readings for other things like CPU & GPU Frequencies?

FKM is not so accurate about sot but you get the details of it. In MIUI i think you need to lock the app in recents so it doesn't get cleared when clearing recent apps. For CPU and GPU you can able to overclock or underclock it, but i think that needs root access or ADB access. It works well btw

Satisfied with the product and the phone 2a also feels a great deal for the price. Flip to glyph is a life saver, when you are in meeting you just need to flip the phone to mute so you don't have to press any buttons or hit the volume rocker just flip lol

Ufs 2.2 is a deal breaker for me. I saw the stutter after exciting the camera app and reminded me of my old rent note 10 pro from a couple of years ago with 6 gigs of ram 😢. I was planning to buy this phone but now I'll wait for Notting phone 3, maybe.
