Summer Tour Episode 4. We all hear about Croatia 🇭🇷 and it’s somewhere we always wanted to visit…is it as beautiful as people say and is it fun to take your campervan there? Can you free-camp ok? Are the campsites any good? When we packed our Ford Nugget Campervan for an adventure (episode 1) we knew we were going to Croatia but we didn’t know where, or where it would eventually lead us to! This is the fourth episode of our multipart Summer Tour series and we certainly did not plan on going where we ended up, or do what we thought we might do!
In this epsiode we visit Split and the beautiful Island of Vis (where Mamma Mia, here we go again!) was filmed.

We are Jordan, Jo, Holly, Izzy and Poppy, the calicamperfamily. Our current van is a 2022 Ford Nugget Plus. It is a 5 seater and sleeps all 5 of us too.
We are British and live and work permanently in Northern Italy alongside Lago Maggiore, near the Alps and not far away from Milan.

Another great video, a little jealous of the boat trip, unfortunately, my crew are not interested in getting out on the water! A pool is all they go for! Some tight spots on those sites, that would be fun towing my trailer. Never been caught out yet, nearly but not quite! Keep up the great work.

Boat trip was a highlight and well worth doing for a day…mind you, we do love boats and as you say, it’s not the idea of a perfect day for everyone! Trailer is a compromise, and sometimes I think maybe I should have taken it with me! One day, I’ll put my van on a weigh bridge too…🫣. Thanks for watching, as always 👍

hey guys, nice vids! just a question regarding the nugget plus vs the cali if you can tell me pls: how much do you feel the hard top while driving, compared to the regular cali? i like a lot the setup of the nugget but it seems very wobbly in taking turns when compared to the Cali. thanks and safe trips!

Hello! Good question! Firstly, both drive well and probably better than most other vans in this size/class. The Nugget Plus isn’t as spritely as the standard Nugget and you do notice the extra height and length (both mine having 185bhp engines). The standard California is somewhere in between, and feels heavier than the same sized Nugget. Yes, you do feel the extra height of the high top compared to a pop top, but it honestly is a very small detriment and in my opinion is a small compromise for all the other benefits a hard top gives you. The high top is still great to drive and isn’t ‘wobbly’…it doesn’t feel top heavy….just bigger. Crosswinds on the motorway do effect you more though. Fuel consumption is not much difference either, slightly more drag but shouldn’t be a deciding factor. Always try to spec the most powerful engine variant as this is what will make most difference between all these vans in terms of driving fun. A slow camper when loaded will be tiresome, body roll on the corners is expected - it’s a camper after all! But both the Ford and the VW are very impressive vans to drive. Hope that helps ☺️

I really enjoyed the video as usual. I have a technical Question for you. When you rotate the drivers seat, do you have to release the handbrake (you do in mine!) Which makes it tricky using chocks! So wondering if the nugget works the same way

Hello! Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, my Nugget came as standard with a retractable handbrake. Hence, you apply it and then it drops again to the floor allowing free movement of the rotating seats. Best wishes from us all 😃
