Why do people tape straps? I've never been able to figure that out. Its not like its gonna hold any better than a plastic strap lock

Holds the strap on, when you're on tour and cant get too that type of stuff. Also, helps if the screw starts stripping. Quick fix, and when you touring all the time...if it works, why change it

yeh, often the pin itself will strip in the wood and then a strap lock won't save it. you'd have to do something that requires work like filling the hole and drilling a new one, or you just tape it down and don't have to worry about it. in a live setting you definitely don't want to risk it
