As a kid growing up in rural Nebraska we always found something fun to do on the weekends(some not so legal) but we always had semi safe fun. Now kids are too lazy because of electronics and can’t stand delayed gratification.

I love the restaurants in McCook. They are all local and very good. I can’t remember what the restaurant is but it’s the one by the train tracks and it stays open 24/7. I enjoyed the Italian place also.

When I was growing up, never-ever did I pout about not having anything to do. Perhaps that's why I enjoy my own company over most everyone else. I find a lot to do!😎

The city of McCook has a huge Walmart on the west side of town. A lot of people meet there while shopping. The beautiful downtown with it's brick streets is largely vacant due to that huge Walmart on the west side of town.

I live in a very small town on the edge of a state park and a big river on the other side. I am about 7 miles from all the shopping needs you might have. I love sitting out at night watching all the night life and also the early mornings. The taxes are low and not much crime to speak of. Its kinda a diamond in the rough that not too many people realize. I love small towns because you can go to the bigger cities and then come home and relax in the nice quiet surroundings.

Dumpster diving and taking things apart are great hobbies. Establishing cash of survival supplies , learn to can you learn that you can have prosperity and peace of mind. Learning to cook can help, chop onions and other things to save for cooking later. Baseball game is worth going to. Try using a hammock in places you can not be discovered.Riding your bike, pitching a tent, make your own tent? Metal detecting is affordable and you can get change for the effort. I love feeding ducks.

McCook is a decent sized populated city. I don't see why people don't think there is much to do there. In the smaller near like ghost towns though, it does get harder to find more leisure and recreation, I guess depending on your style. As long as there's hiking trails, I'm happy myself.

There's a state park near me that has a recrational lake with a sandy beach that was a very popular spot for families to spend a day swimming. That is, until hundreds of Canadian geese took a liking to it. The state had to close it down due to pollution from the geese. Don't want to be gross, but as heard right from the wildlife rangers, every single goose produces as much solid waste as a full grown person. Now imagine a few hundred people doing their business in that lake. Not a pretty picture. Thing is, the geese were protected, so the people lost a beautiful recrational lake, to accommodate these vermin, in my view. These things breed faster than rabbits, so there's no shortage of them. I think they should have been thinned out and given to needy families or homeless shelters.
