Anyone who covers Jethro Tull from the Benefit album gets my whole hearted respect! Probably in my top five of all Tull songs. Well done!

thanks so much. i hadn't listened to benefit for years until recently. I've been rediscovering it's joys.

One of my all-time favorites! Perhaps due to my Scots-Irish and Celtic roots - I have a preternatural attraction and connection to these folk tonalities. This one, "With You There To Help Me", and "My God" from Aqualung - all have an extremely "heavy" feel to them - I think driven by Martin's guitar wizardry on the bottom strings, and his perfect amount of overdrive from the combo of Les Paul and HIWATT amps. When I first really heard these tunes on albums, on a Class A audiophile system of Macintosh gear and Klipsch speakers (one of my girlfriend's father's) I figured it was mostly done in the studio with plate echo - until I saw them live - and it was even more pronounced! With just an acoustic, a flute, and your voice - you do a very good bit of it.

Wow. Bloody brilliant. Thank you for covering my all time favourite band and singing just like IA.

Nice! Always loved this song. I saw the later version of Tull perform Thick as a Brick 1 and 2 shortly after ‘2’ was released, then saw them do a benefit concert (literally… for victims of IED’s). All this w/o Martin Barre. These several years later, just as I did with the TAAB shows, I’ll be seeing Martin and Co. twice in three days! These living legends are still making contributions to the world of music, and that’s a damn fine thing! Thank you Andrew for also keeping that brilliant flame burning!

thanks so much. that's my intention, to honor all that brilliant music. I still have yet to see Martin Barre and his band.

great musicianship. you really captured the spirit of the music. your vocal is the best JT cover i’ve heard. i generally don’t like covers but your performance has your own magic to add to Ian’s music

yeah, it's great stuff; a little tricky to arrange scaled down without all the layers on the album, but those are just great songs

Your presentations, Andrew, are beautiful, allowing even a nine-year old to take notice of the breath of the man’s poetry. Incidentally, from his interviews, Anderson appears to be a practitioner in the dying art of self-deprecation, but that’s another story. Allow me to digress. In his interview nestled in the Aqualung 1996 rerelease, the unheralded in the equation is John Bungey of Mojo who softly embraces his candidate waxing lyrical about the band. Bungey re-writes the Art of Interviewing by (a) hovering on a distinctly lower decibel track over his candidate (b) chiming in only to sneak in a question and perhaps find his own bearings, and (c) stepping back to let the audience embrace the full fabric, the humour and grammar tutorial of his candidate’s oral examination. I said to the nine-year old, there are three gradients to understanding the wordsmith in Anderson, his whimsicality and poetic humour. Step 1. Read his lyrics off the screen and take in his grammar, his prose, his poetry and the odd limerick. Step 2. Listen to Andrew’s acoustic covers against the lyrics while taking in the note signatures and poetry. Step 3. Embrace the original studio versions while separating, for want of a better term, the noise from the signal.

Brilliant version of a great song! And your voice is better than Ian Anderson's.
