OH poor dear. SO many of the little devils, too. SO glad you found her and got her correct. Truly admire the tiny livestock guardian/herding dogs. Great thinking pups. HA

Looks like lovely wool. My chickens would have a field day with those maggots, but I’m glad we don’t have that problem here.

So much fly strike this year! Icky stuff, poor girlies.

Does fly strike have a big impact on the fleece value as you have to remove quite a lot.

Where maggots have been fleece becomes manky. Otherwise the rest is quite good

I do hope the rest of the ewes will be okay for you.

I haven't seen Ebony in your flock since September 19th. I can see LitleBit, EarFeather, Kristal and all the others except her.... She always comes first to the gate, walks with you friendly...Is she OK, Suzanna?

Is it too late to get the sheep sheared? That fly strike looks so painful.

This woman shouldn't have so many sheep that she can't keep up with their shearing to keep them healthy. Routine inspection & shearing the flock is necessary!! Once the ewes isolate they're already being eaten alive. Only have a flock size you can manage effectively.

Thank you for your advice. There is a growing issue of shearer’s availability. if I had a bigger flock I could have gotten a shearer but as I have a small flock of sheep I could not get a shearer to come shear my sheep as it wasn’t worth their time. On previous years I shore the sheep myself when I couldn’t get someone to shear but this year I’m recovering from a neck injury so couldn’t do it myself. luckily this year was a very cool summer and only a few sheep got fly strike which I took care of. Hopefully this answers your questions.

Is that from one fly laying eggs or a few flies? 🫣 Is it quite late in the year for fly strike?
