On keeping beds from wandering: I used wooden stakes to mark bed corners when I started, but found that they rotted off relatively quickly. My second iteration was to use landscaping timbers fastened down with rebar across the bed ends. These have held up for 5 or 6 years and keep me from stumbling over them as they are low profile, but I'm now replacing a few them. Thanks for the show Jesse! I listen to almost every one.

The info on what & why to transplant was very informative. Its like "relay planting" turnips, cereal rye etc into standing field corn or soybeans so that when the combine rolls through the following winter cover crop is in place and ready to takeoff when the cash crop overstory is removed. Please share at what stage you prefer to transplant the most common things like tomatoes etc. 5 leave , 7 leaf etc (assume no weather impacts) Thanks

Thanks for all you do. Understand about tight money and lack of time.

0:46 I actually really appreciate you talking about the weather there, it seems to be really similar this year to my weather here in zone 6B Oklahoma. Each time you seem to have a storm we seem to be having a very similar storm. It’s nice to actually have a channel that deals with snow and wind here in Oklahoma and get some wild 70MPH wind on a regular basis, we get downpours to come all at once. Sometimes we just don’t get rain, it’s so hot in the summer.. your always looking for the closest faucet. gets so cold in the winter the fire just stays burning. It’s a interesting area to work in but I wouldn’t have it any other way I enjoy the challenge of farming in this difficult environment.

😂I appreciate the confession re: soil testing and am on board with that sentiment. I really love my wood-chipped pathways which help keep beds in place, boots clean and they are always full of fungis which...I interpret either correctly or incorrectly as a sign that I have healthy soil. I haven't experienced troubles with woodchips getting into lettuce mix though I would imagine that would make me love them a little less.

I’ve never heard of frozen fog either. I was at a retreat this week and another group there was Farmeprenures. Young farmers sharing business idea. I definitely thought of you.

Everyone probably has a friend to bounce ideas off of, just to head off getting deep in the weeds. There were so many video's out on soil testing. I have always added compost and manures on the off season to my soils, and everything always lookes/grows fantastic. I once asked my friend what he thought about soil testing, and he said "is your stuff growing good?" I replied "yes." He replied, "then why would you need too?" That was like 4 years ago. Such wisdom in such a simple answer lol. He's not a gardener though, so im scared to ask about squash bugs and cucumber beetles. He may recommend a flame thrower for all I know.

I use stakes and string and it has been very helpful. Wood stakes don't last long and therefore don't feel very sustainable or cost effective, so I'm experimenting with different types of metal stakes now.

Still can't believe you've been getting so much snow down by you when we've had nothing for weeks up in New England. Just frigid cold day in and out
