Perfect - Thank you!

I enjoyed this content and was following along as best as I could but got lost when you fast-forwarded through most of the video in relation to building the databases. I managed to get the first basics down by slowing the video down to 0.25 speed. I really like your thought processes in relation to using Notion for writing. I've been thinking about using it to write my novel, so I would love to see more videos on your process. Thank you for putting this one together.

I am glad you found it useful! I was a bit unsure how to present the process of creating all the properties of the database tables, so to avoid the video getting way longer than it is, I chose to show the process once, and then fast forward through the same processes for the other tables, so if someone wanted to see the details, they could go through it slowly like you did, but if someone just wanted to understand the process, they would only need to see it once. I hope it wasn't too inconvenient 😅
@jaisenmahne28325 ай бұрын
@@TheOrganizedWriter not inconvenient at all. I'd love to see some more videos, looking forward to them.

Anything particular regarding Notion you would like to see more of after seeing this first one?
@jaisenmahne28325 ай бұрын
@@TheOrganizedWriter I'd like to see more processes on relations and rollups. I don't quite understand the rollups. I am getting the relations. But anything to do with your writing process would be great.

I'm taking note of that. Time is the most limited resource unfortunately, but I will try my best to get a video out on more details like that at some point. Shout out if you can think of more. And thank you for supporting the channel 😊

I appreciate all the time you've already invested but I'd love to see a more detailed video on the databases. Specifically Craft, Structure and their relationships... Not so much how to make like, not the click here, click here but an explanation of the properties in your chart. I'm attempting to build a knowledge base for myself as I learn to write.

It's fantastic to hear that the video is for help. I am planning a follow-up video about Notion, hopefully to be released within the next few months. I will take your suggestion into the plans for that video. Happy writing!

Thank you for the video, it's very informative and I'm learning a lot. I haven't finished the video as yet, I'm about 3/4 of the way through, but are you going to share your templates? I had a quick scroll through but I don't recall seeing any links. Thanks!
@TheOrganizedWriter3 ай бұрын
I am glad you liked it! I haven't made any reusable templates in Notion, mostly since I am changing it whenever I find any improvements, so the setup basically evolves with the craft. I guess I could try to generalize it into a reusable template, but there is the issue of time 😅

I tried writing in notion a bit ago, but found the export process to be pretty tedious when editing and publishing. It’s particularly bad when your scenes are on different pages. Have you experienced this or found a solution to this?

I have yet to use Notion for the actual script of stories I wrire. I only use it for planning and structuring details.

Love the video. So much information! Immediate sub... Like the format you chose - show one process in detail, then the others quickly so you can go through them slowly if you want. Need more videos! :) Would love to see your process end-to-end... also, more details on your skeleton method would be fantastic. I know these videos take a lot of time and effort to produce - perhaps a live stream format will work? That way we can join in, watch you do it in real time and ask questions along the way? I find my writing tends to descend in to chaos pretty quickly - plot lines gets lost, characters get forgotten, etc. Also tried a bunch of different apps - OneNote, Obsidian, Apple Notes, Scriviner, Joplin, etc. Each has it's quirks and advantages. But none have really helped me stay on track. I've used Notion before for other tasks, but have not thought to use it for writing. I'm going to try this setup. Apologies if I missed it, but what are the acronyms REL and RELS used here? kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3aUk2d8jrabp9k

Thank you so much, that means a lot to me! The more I write, get ideas for stories (and KZbin videos now), I find having a practical and accessible tool crucial! I am very systematic in nature (hence the name of the channel) and found Notion perfect for this. It sounds like your experience will make Notion a perfect tool for your writing process as well. I would really like to hear your thoughts after trying it! I understand the confusion in that screen of the video. Probably my software engineer background and forgetting that most people are not used to terms from that world 😅 Rel stands for Relation, indicating that the column/property is a relation to another database. Rels is the same, but with multiple selectable relations.

Can you make a video about creating different progress trackers, task tracking, deadlines, etc?

Thank you for your suggestion. I have a follow-up video about Notion planned. I'll add that to the list for that video 😊

I dont want my private data stored in a commercial could and I dont want a rigid tool like Notion. That's why I use Obsidian + Scrivener + Omnivore + Plotrr (or Aeon Timeline).
@TheOrganizedWriter4 ай бұрын
People have different preferences. I switched from Obsidian because I spent too much time tidying up / restructuring when needed, and wanted more flexibility in structuring data (which Notion databases is great for). It's good that you have found a tool that suits your needs 👍
