We had so much fun exploring some new dishes that we hadn't tried before and walking around Chandni Chowk with our amazing guide, Gajendra. If you're considering a street food tour, we would HIGHLY recommend A Chef's Tour. If you want to book the same tour, here is the link to book: bit.ly/3ALBJsU

This guide is a ‘freak’. TBH, his profile on that website should be “ridiculously bigoted and biased” instead of ‘knowledgeable’… 😏🤭 He takes foreign tourists only to “vegetarian” places… and then foreigners like you believe the narrative that majority of Indians are vegetarians (whereas 78%+ people are not vegetarian). 😅 And, the more hilarious thing is, “Old Delhi” is ‘famous’ for its non vegetarian food… 😂 This company’s Kolkata guide is a good one - he takes people to places that are ‘truly popular’ with the locals.

Looking at you guys, I feel hungry. As an Indian living in Canada, it brought back so many memories. Love that you're enjoying the food tour and tasting the wild pallets of Delhi. When you travel to South India, it will be an entire ball game. Take care and enjoy India.

@@nickandraychel: TBH… totally wrong guide. I’ve seen videos of this person and he knows nothing about food - he just ‘pretends’ by telling tourists info. about the stores he takes to (info. which is on their signage itself 😅). If you’re in Delhi, you should contact Anubhav Sapra of “Delhi Food Walks”. He also has a huge youtube base of his own as he and his team travels across India covering local cuisine and lifestyles.

Tips: 1) you can ask any restaurant to put less oil, a lot of them adjust, 2) try jain food too, it's devoid of onion & garlic and does not use root vegetables. You can ask a restaurant if the can make a dish "Jain". 3) or just ask for no onion and garlic in curries. At times not having them brings out more flavors as they could be hiding them. In my observation restaurant food in India tends to use more onion+garlic than how it is prepared in Indian homes. That's in part because Indians dine out for something more exotic than what they prepare at home. 4) get invited to Indian homes to try what really they eat from day to day, it varies a lot from state to state. Enjoy!

I really hope you travel to north east india especially the states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. Meghalaya is where you will find something that you won't find anywhere else in the world..... LIVING ROOT BRIDGES. These are bridges made with the roots of trees and as time passes, the bridges grow stronger. It takes around 30 -40 years to build one completely and is one generation's gift to the next. The one that builds it don't get to benefit from it. They're truly a marvel of human ingenuity and the resourcefulness of Mother Nature
