In the area of the city of Noto, the late Baroque town in Sicily, a nice place to visit at Villa Romana del Tellaro. Dated 4th century A.C. by linking the discovery of coins of Roman Emperors of that period. The Villa probably had an area of circa 5 thousand square meters. It was destroyed by a fire, as it was possible to deduce from the examination of the nineteenth century foundations building. It was discovered in 1971 during an illegal excavation phase. The complex is to the right of the Tellaro river. The structure is located slightly on the surface, but under a farm (masseria) of the eighteenth century, where the mosaic decorations are found.
The floor is made up of polychrome mosaics with geometric motifs. In the north there are three areas with mosaic floors. In the portico: a mosaic decoration with the central scene of the recovery and weighing of Hector's body. The west area shows a different polychrome mosaic floor consisting of four garlands. Villa Romana del Tellaro è stata datata IV secolo d.C. associando il rinvenimento di monete di Imperatori Romani di questo periodo. La Villa probabilmente aveva una superficie di circa 5 mila mq. Fu distrutta da un incendio, com'è stato possibile arguire dall'esame delle assise di base del fabbricato ottocentesco. Fu scoperta nel 1971 durante una fase di scavi illegali. Il complesso è situato a destra del fiume di Tellaro. La struttura si localizza leggermente in superficie, ma sotto una fattoria (masseria) del diciottesimo secolo, dove si trovano le decorazioni musive. Il pavimento è formato da mosaici policromi con motivi geometrici. Nel nord si trovano tre aree che presentano pavimenti a mosaico. Nel portico è presente una decorazione musiva con la scena centrale del recupero e pesatura del corpo di Ettore. Ad ovest un'altra area mostra un pavimento di mosaico policromo diverso che consta di quattro ghirlande. Il mosaico di pavimento policromo della terza area ad ovest evidenzia cortesi scene di caccia.
