Sometimes you put your 2 week notice in and they fire you on the spot. I've heard of folks being fired at the beginning of the shift but be asked to finish the shift. Realistically if you gave me a 2 week notice that I would be fired. I'm packing my shit up and leaving right then and there. Unless it's something like the whole company is shutting down so everybody is losing their job. I'm pretty sure companies don't give a 2 weeks notice on termination because folks would show up and act a fool for those 2 weeks. My brother's ex-manager actually sold several employees identity. He had access to sensitive personal info and was about to leave that job. Sent the file from his work email off a company PC to his friend's back home who he knew dealt with that kind of thing. It took years and years for my brother to recover from it.
