Ever since his first mini-patch those first 3 talents are how I've played too. If you stick the Q on the initiate they are in serious trouble--your damage, and you set up your teammates AoE too.

Angiris is definitely the more fun ult, but it's almost always the inferior choice. I have no clue why the cooldown is so long. It's a high risk skillshot with a significant windup for something that ends up being a worse version of Stitches' hook (at least that goes over terrain, Imperius' "flying" ult can't). It feels like it should have the lvl 20 talent baked into it by default, or make the speed/duration better, or at least reduce to a 15 second cooldown if missed.

I’d say that imperious is a great team player due to his cc spear and a great brawler due to his self sustain and dmg (valorous brand then ofc). His heroics are just a clearer spec for if he is a solo duelist (shield/swords) or if he creates opportunities for his team (the wrath of the angeris). His one weakness is being kited by quick opponents..Comments?

to clarify, that brand talent does 2.5% per brand consumed so if u got all 3 brands on target thats 7.5% hp on aa or u only get the bonus once per swing how ever many brands?

i prefer taking Q talents at 1-13-16 and so far the only one i could not kill 1v1 is Artanis. 1 gives you reduced cd that works nicely out of 13 and 16 where 13 gives you almost same effect as armor but for your entire team. 16 is just dirty coupled with fervor(7) and active 7 during team fight letting you down most assassins to below 50%... multiple assassins

The Imperius videos I'd seen before this seemed to suggest Impaling Light at level 1 was obviously the best talent to go for. I thought I was just being a crazy bad player that I thought Burn the Impure was so much better.

I do also think Burn the Impure might be the better talent but Impailing Light is so much more fun. I usually pick it and Celestial Swiftness at 16 and if you have the quest completed you can get that perma 50% attack speed and 20% movement speed in a fight which really turns you into a monster, as long as you hit your q's that is

at release, impaling light is his best talent since burn the impure at release only applies to the marks from his W, and there's no talent that make it easier to apply the mark. no cd reduction, even the blaze of glory talent doesn't apply a 2nd w mark. it was an awful talent, but then blizzard overbuffed it and made it so that all marks trigger this talent, which effectively means this 2.5% max hp dmg can be trigger 2-3 times more often in battle and can proc up to 7 times when the enemy choose to stand and fight with a full set of basic abilities(pre buff can only proc once).

I play Imperius a lot. A. lot. (almost 400 games 60% winrate) I find it funny that the way Blizzard portrayed him as using W first, Q second, but ideally I will use my Q first and W on the follow up. Also, I don't bother with Impaling Light. Low chance of hitting 3 without a good set up, isn't worth much anyways.

Isn't the level 1 talent "Burn the Impure" even better than you are describing? The wording is kinda odd, especially when you compare the wording to the level 4 talent "Battle Hunger". But from my tests it sure feels like you are not only doing 2.5% max hp damage when you attack a marked enemy, but you actually do 2.5% per mark consumed. So if you attack an enemy with 3 marks it does 7.5% max hp damage.

that is how it works, correct. each "ability" puts its own specific mark and each of those marks consumed does 2.5% max hp damage. at 3 marks, it indeed does 7.5%.
