Mr Edgehog in the fog, yes for the voice (since this is the only thing we understand). Well, it is not fully true in my case since I have an extremely limited understanding of Russian, I only figured out your nickname was the name of a movie/book when I tried to verify if I has correctly read your nickname (yojik/yozhik vtumane) and google matched it to the movie/book name. It was not the first time I heard Russian singing though, both Pop and Traditional (like Kalinka, Katyusha, etc...).

For us non-Russian speakers we only enjoy the voice, not the lyrics since we either don't understand them or very little while you can actually understand them and can compare them to French if you speak it as well... I personally very much dislike the English "translation" as I find it very poorly done and with none of the subtleties of the French version... I hope the English "translation" was not used as source for the Russian version, that definitely would explain why it is so much different from the French version...

The songs are really beautiful in French, but I prefer the acting in the Italian version overall. I haven't gotten to see the other language versions fully and some I can't find to compare to (Polish for example), but Italian Esmeralda is really expressive and lively and has kind of an innocent joy at the beginning that makes it all the more painful to see ripped away, and she conveys her suffering incredibly well after that happens. The French singer has a beautiful voice, but after watching the Italian version of Ave Maria and how Lola Ponce just like Attacks the stage following Clopin's death, I feel like she's the best I've seen so far. I also thought the Korean Esmeralda showed some good emotion in Ave Maria and I thought the way she expressed more absolute grief rather than anger over the death was good, and the I think Polish? Esmeralda is a bit lively, but kind of mature looking, I suppose. I do like Bruno Pelletier's voice the most for Gringoire

It’s normal, that adaptations don’t change the original… you wanted the musical to be different in every country? So if you are not French and decide to go to the play you want to experience something completely different? You also don’t know how owning the rights work. Rhymes are important. They reflect the feeling of the three characters and do not betray the text of Hugo .... No other version has this ability to make the atmosphere of the novel no other translation can match the text in French! THE FRENCH VERSION IS THE BEST !

If you want to hear the Russian version (Frollo) then listen Alexander Maracoulin (Александр Маракулин, for example, "Tu vas me détruire" = "Ты гибель моя"). I think that his voice in comparison with other Russian performers in this musical is the best (sorry for mistakes).

Well, this musical is about the French cathedral, was written in French and of course no doubts best the version is French. But personally I love Russian Phebus as well because of amazingly beautiful Anton's voice colour. Flemish and Italian Phebus also have beautiful voices. Koreans can do awesome musicals (I watched them live) but definetley in this case they couldn't create anything competetive. P.S. Someone asked to make multilanguage Gringoire. I dont think it's worth making )). I saw Russian, Italian, English (that one who is not Bruno) Gringoire - everybody is so far behind Bruno Pelletier
