For those that haven't heard the explanation on that punt switch around 7 minutes left. Had the long snapper touched the ball they wouldn't have been able to switch out all 11, but because he never touched the ball they could run off the entire punt team and bring back on the entire offense. Hats off to the Irish coaching staff for knowing that rule, and using it to their advantage.

I’m trying to quote the whole discussion about Ty’s allegiances to share with my friends and family - it’s very therapeutic! I was raised an ND fan, but got two degrees from Penn State and worked there for almost 6 years post-grad. But… it’s Notre Dame. Ty, if you find a place to make you the Laura Quinn jersey - or even a place to get a CFB Playoff hat that has both team logos - let us know! Thanks for the great show! (Back to podcast land I go) With all respect to Dan, I can’t handle ND and PSU playing every year unless it’s in an elimination round!

On the point about the (nonexistent) ND PSU rivalry I’m still disappointed that the MSU series got put on the backburner. It was about 60 years straight of playing them, and then the ACC tie-ins and SOS pursuit got in the way. While there’s more bad blood toward UM due to historic reasons, MSU is closer to what USC and Navy are as annual opponents (until they weren’t). The post Dantonio years have unfortunately made people forget how big that game used to be.

The power dynamics are changing the Big Ten is rinsing the seeding was set up to favor the SEC and they still where one bad call from the SEC not getting a team in the final 4

If you had told me that Notre Dame beat Georgia with only 246 yds TOTAL offense, my reply would have been: "what 1940's game was that?". Great in the moment win but does not inspire a lot of hope moving forward.

Penn State was two goal to go situations away from beating OSU. They have to beat ND first, but their pass rush is probably the best left . They have a running game to eat the clock and hold the ball from OSU. They've found ways to create turnovers this year, including against OSU . They have a QB who can make the throws and the 2nd best weapon left in the final four. I get the natural reaction for everyone ( including PSU fans ) is to be skeptical about this team and James Franklin. But they and OSU each have only lost one score games, and OSU showed everyone you can flip the script on the prior matchup . People forgot PSU had it 10-0 with OSU on a 3rd and long and stopped them only for the BIG Ten refs to play refball and call unsportsmanlike conduct for something we see about 10 - 20 times a game. OSU is the runaway favorite to me . But let James Franklin "1-0" mentality himself into a championship game, and that style and philosophy will get its best test ever .

Notre dame lost to Ohio state last year 17-14 on a last second play. They had Marvin Harrison and ebuka. McCord is comparable to will Howard. So I just don't see how it's so far fetched ND can play with ohio state.
@solidverbal6 күн бұрын
This is a fair point. I do think this version of Ohio State is much better, but this is also a team that scored 10 points against Michigan, so who knows. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@williamhopkins70656 күн бұрын
@solidverbal yea, I guess that's the difference. Maybe a better scheme with Kelly, but as good as freshman jeremiah Smith is, he isn't better than junior Harrison. They went 11-1 beat Penn st, notre dame, only loss to national champion Michigan by 6. If they're better its minuscule difference. And notre dame is slightly better than last year. So I see why they would be favored for sure. 5-7 points maybe. But the certainty in which everyone talks about that match up is what raises and eye to me.
