I’m still shocked that Love & Price didn’t see the ball more. Coach G & Denbrock should be preparing Angeli and Minchey. I would not be surprised if Leonard doesn’t get “fully” hurt if he starts. I hope not though. I enjoy Goolsby & Coach Hyde’s individual shows, but please put them together in a show sometimes. When we have so many questions it would be great to have them together. I agree, love averaged 7.2 yards per carry with only 11 touches Price averaged 6.0 yards per carry and only 4 touches Leonard averages 1.5 yards per carry, 11 touches The Texas A&M game, both love and price had a touch down. Which allowed ND to win the game. Please bench Leonard and have minchey and Angeli fight for the QB1 spot!

I’ve been an ND fan for 50 years, and I have never felt so strongly that Riley Leonard, when healthy, simply isn’t the right quarterback for Notre Dame. I hope he is healthy, and I wish him well, but he is no more than a backup at ND under the best circumstances. Now, if Leonard was injured in the second half against NIU, and Freeman kept him in the game anyway knowing he was hurt, and changed his game plan as a result to limit his running and his hits, especially when running is all he does well, Freeman should be fired immediately. If Leonard is still not 100%, and Freeman starts him Saturday anyway, Freeman should be fired immediately. I pray Freeman comes to his senses and decides to start Angeli Saturday. And if Steve does start, open the damn playbook and let him get after it. ND needs to win out, and can’t barely get by. Steve is capable of winning big, Riley is not. Steve’s stats last year: 34-44 77% cp 7 TD’s 1 Int 2 sacks 11.5 yards per attempt Riley Leonard’s stats last year: 95-165 57.6% cp 3 TD’s 3 Int’s 7 Sacks 6.7 yards per attempt Steve Angeli all day long!!

At this point I’d love to see Minchey get the start. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the way Minchey throws the ball and he’s mobile. Perfect fit for this offense. Riley is going to lose the belief of his receivers if he keeps missing throws like this which will just make things worse. On top of that ND has got to show some juice in their passing game or receiver recruiting is going to plummet. Start lighting it up in the air and make ND a destination for playmakers at the receiver position. Zero passing touchdowns in two weeks just isn’t going to get it done!

Since KATZISALEGEND asked. All 5 of ND HCs who won natties had winning% above .760. Of our 13 HCs all time who had higher win% than .760, 10 of them came in with prior HC experience and of the 3 who didn't one was Rockne. Of our 17 HCs all time who had less than .760 win%, 12 of them had no prior HC experience. This inverse relationship tells you all you need to know...67% of experienced hires end up in that championship zone win%, while only 20% of inexperienced hires end up there.

Do you think they evaluated Leonard before they got him? I'd find it hard to believe they did knowing how inaccurate a duke he was in the passing game. Plus did they give him a physical? If so why would you play him knowing he's gonna miss all of spring ball and majority of fall ball?

Tim, I’m a big Riley fan. I have been since he was in high school. However, he has played poorly. Now, with the injury, his game is limited. I think it’s time for Steve. Question: If Riley gets healthy, can he fix his game?

In my opinion Riley Leonard should not play against Purdue. If he takes another hit on that left shoulder it could prove to be a career ender. Notre Dame has other problems on offense including an inexperienced offensive line and a less than steller wide receiver corps with the exception of Beau Collins. It has been many years since Notre Dame has recruited NFL quality wide receivers. Charlie Weiss was the last coach to recruit NFL quality wide receivers when he recruited Golden Tate and Michael Floyd.

With angeli the offense will be more balanced he is accurate enough to make third down passes or runs and we saw what he could do in the bowl game run the offense the team believes in him and he just always looks good everytime he’s out there. That’s the biggest reason why if they didn’t get one of the elite qbs in the portal they should’ve just gone with the younger qbs start their career and windows of opportunity now if we lost a game or two with young players it’s understandable but they could only get better where Riley is who he is has never progressed as a passer in 5 yrs

Also pat coogan needs to be off field goal team cuz he got bullrushed not once but twice. And that’s part of the reason the field goals got blocked. Or teach him about leverage and keep low and stay low when blocking on field goal

An inexperienced O-line has limited QB options as well as play calling. Don't believe that Leonard has any confidence that O-line will afford him the opportunity to see a second option in the pass game. ND misses the two tackles now in the NFL more than anyone could ever imagine. The line may develop but right now, they are a genuine liability for any offensive success.

He was scanning the field and throwing to his 3rd/4th option many times in the game. Pass protection was not the issue on his throws behind players, and slants almost hitting the ground. Thank you for the comments.

Ha! ND completely crapped the bed. You guys thought you had a CFP spot guaranteed. And honestly given that weak, weak, weak, schedule you really did have an incredible opportunity. However, now that weak schedule is your greatest enemy. Unless NIU goes on to become ranked, gonna be hard for ND. I wasn't bitter about the A&M loss to ND until this game. I honestly believe ND was a legit team. Ags should have won by quite a bit if only our QB....hadn't crapped the bed himself. Lots of bed crapping going on both sides. Born in '88 so I was "technically" alive for the last title in January of 1989 but obviously I don't remember it. This damn team has just given me heartbreak after heartbreak from the Purdue destruction in 2004, Syracuse crime in 2008 and Stanford in 2022, I've been to some horrid games in person. I've got faith in Freeman, but he's got to keep this team focused from WEEK TO WEEK no matter the damn opponent. This game should have been over at halftime with Minchey and Carr playing some garbage time but instead we've been the "meme of the week" in the CFB world. Right the ship boys, there's still a ton to play for!

This may sound dumb. But I'm going say Freeman issues are similar to what Jim Harbaugh issues was with Ohio State. Obviously the Ohio State is way better than any MAC team. But how many games did Habaugh lose to Ohio State? 6? and how many of them were blow outs? Every team/coach goes through its rough patches, unfortunately the Irish and Freeman's issue are teams they should beat. But me personally I have not lost faith in Freeman. Let's be realistic Freeman was hired with zero coaching experience it's either be patient with what's going on or blow it up. Who would would replace Freeman?
