With the 4 playoff teams with Byes all losing in the quarter finals, thus year, could be that this year’s playoff result is sure to be an outlier year, similar to results we sometimes see with Basketball in March madness? During March madness more often then not, the 1 and 2 seeds end up in the elite 8 and most years, at least 2 #1 seeds end up in the final 4. Yet, sometimes March madness gives us some unusual results such as the 2023 final 4 where the highest seeded team was a 4 seed, or the 2014 title game where 7-seed UConn played 8-seed Kentucky. Most of the time though, one of the #1 or #2 seeds end up winning it all by the time March madness is over. So, could this year’s college football playoff results just be an outlier result and that the top 2 or 3 seeds will end up willing the title more often than not, similar to what we see happening during March Madness?

Notre Dame was out its star sack leader, linebacker, Best running back is banged up. And they are missing 4 defensive starters on top of that. Their O line missing 2 starters as well.

This is about as fanciful as the "Boise State belongs" take. I picked ND to win this game, but take away the Georgia fumble that turned into a ND TD and the KO return TD to start the second half, and ND loses. The ND offense didn't really do much. Yes, their D held up against a backup QB. I fully expect them to get railed by PSU. They are not a National Championship team.

Here’s the thing, though. These things don’t happen in a vacuum. Early scores set the stage for how a team plays later in a game. Once the Irish went up 20 - 3, there was no need for them to go after more points against a team with a salty defense and an offense that showed little potential of scoring enough points to catch them on the scoreboard. All ND had to do at that point is play keep away, which is exactly what they did. They knew they had the game in hand at that point and had no need to risk turning the ball over and losing the game just to impress you or anyone else. It’s called good coaching.

They have no national title potential. They had 90 yds passing. They didn't do anything spectacular. They ran a kick back. This is the weakest year since 2007. Ohio State is obviously the most talented team left and they're playing the best. If they continue to play like this, no one else has a chance. Texas, Notre Dame and Penn State are too weak offensively. Ohio State is playing out of their mind defensively AND offensively. They have to implode and/or one these teams front 7 has to completely dominate OSU so they don't have time to throw the ball. If they have time to throw, it's over.

I guess we better not play the games and just give the championship to Ohio State. Also, you don’t know ball if you are hung up on ND not throwing it much. Why throw it all over the field when you don’t have to?!? ND won’t risk a TO unless they are forced to do it. ND knew they were at ZERO risk of giving up 23 to UGA, so they just played conservative. Anytime they needed to move the ball, Riley ran it. If they played Ohio State, who I think is a heavy favorite to win it all, they will take more chances because they will have to score more points against that explosive offense. ND dog-walked UGA and played conservative. We held them to 62 yards rushing. And to the lowest offensive efficiency score since 2016 per PFF.

Please learn what the word potential means. He’s not saying they’re going to win it. He’s saying that they have GNR POTENTIAL to do it. This is not any different than 1988 ND who beat you with all three phases and never ever had an elite offense. Not once. Game 1 vs MICHIGAN-19 SPECIAL TEAMS POINTS GAME 6 vs MiAMI-ND FORCES 7 TURNOVERS INCLUDING A PICK 6, and in the last regular season game game 11 vs USC, they had another Pick 6. They had an elite stable of RBs, but the ST were the best in the nation and the defense was nowhere near this good. Just admit you don’t know ball.
