Good cast, as always, and some reasonable prognostication. This is worrying. Two points: 1) We are getting to the point where we are believing the team is a reliable commodity again and that we won't see another relapse. I mean, its not that I am predicting one, its just that with nothing but trap games between the last bye and the end of the season, and having raised expectations (and the committees, assumptions about the results from the Irish), how much of a head game must this be for the coaches and team NOT to have a let down, even if not a loss? 2) A couple of Irish blowouts now have had _very_ late game self inflicted wounds by opposing teams inflate post game score differentials, but this isn't always going to be the case even if the game is comfortably in hand. Irish, 37 Cavaliers, 10. Virginia is not powerful, but they are not Florida State either. Go Irish!

Riley has steadily improved and is an elite run threat. He is “leading” the room as a captain as well. He does struggle with some passing situations for sure, but had some very nice passes vs Fla (Evans TD and a number of 20 yard throws). Let’s ride with him as far as we can go at this point ND Nation!

The rankings don’t matter until two weeks from now. The playoff format should be: Power 4 get two automatic bids for each conference, 1 automatic bid for group of 5, 3 at large bids. Top 4 ranked conference champion gets the bye. Loser of conference champions are ranked with the lowest rank conference champion and at large bids 5-12.

I don't like the playoff format. First, committee said they don't want to punish teams for making their conf championship and losing. Why not? It's a loss. Second, it's horribly dumb to me that Miami is ranked #9, but because they may win their conference they get #4 and a bye? Who cares about conf champions. Rank them. Top 12 get in. 1 plays 12, 2 plays 11, and so on. I'm actually missing the BCS system

Miami at #9 is HILARIOUS!!! A team with NO signature wins, no RANKED teams on the schedule, HORRIBLE defense AND a loss to GT in week 10!!! Between the ACC Refs and the CFP playoff committee, BOTH are acting desperate. Listen, it’s TOTALLY OK if they don’t make it into the playoffs, CFP!!! They should have 3 losses ALREADY anyway!! You have to be able to look past what’s on paper though and realize the flaws and what they will mean when you don’t play garbage teams. Yes he’s got 20 some tds but his accuracy is an issue and against better defensive teams he’s not gonna be able to cover that up with big runs all the time. I think he’s a good player but he’s not without flaws that could potentially bite this team.

All these “top teams” have zero defense NONE. We would cook Miami, ole miss, Tennessee and what has Oregon done? Oh that’s right never won anything ever so sorry not sorry they are not a threat and certainly not a no.1 team

I would say Tennessee has been winning more on defense in conference play. They just had a bunch of first halfs where they didn't even score. The defensive lines for Ole Miss and Tennessee are very solid. I think every team is beatable this year.

@ the SEC is overrated per usual, the only threats are bama, and Ohio state in regards to notre dame im sorry but Tennessee and ole miss have done nothing we have the most nfl draft picks all time, most nfl hall of famers top 5 all time in wins, again what have these teams done? We have four ranked wins this year? These teams really don’t, losing to Arkansas I don’t see how that isn’t knocking Tennessee down, ever since we lost we have been blowing teams out they have not

I'm going to say it right now I don't care what anyone says I think if Notre Dame play Tennessee in the playoffs right now I think Tennessee would get blown out I think that Notre Dame defense is legit and I think Notre Dame offense would be trouble for that Tennessee defense I don't think they'd be able to stop that run game with Riley Leonard and the two running backs
