Notre-Dame's new Bells ring.

In the crowd as Notre-Dame rings it's nine new bells as part of the 850 year birthday celebrations in Paris.

They actually changed the bells to make it sound more melodic, so this isn't really what they heard. But it's still beautiful.

Before it sounded different.. I'm not sure how else to explain it, but you could look it up on youtube. I'm not sure if they changed all the bells though, but I know they changed some of them.

+Bobbie Fisher There originally were bells prior to the French Revolution, but because of the Revolution all but 1 bell were melted down and recast as weapons. The one bell that remained is the largest bell "Emmanuel" which was cast around 1686. The 4 bells that occupied the North tower were cast in 1856, then obviously because of the 850th birthday of Notre Dame these bells came in, but "Emmanuel" remained for over 300 years, and obviously still rings to this day.

Don’t worry, it will be beautiful again. The frame is saved, the towers are saved, and the relics inside were moved. I have hope that we will revisit this a few years from now and hear those bells again.

what a lovely sounding cathedral, the bells of york minster, westminster abby, or st pauls in the UK sound do not sound anything like that, you should be proud of them

Nonsense Alex... York Minster are a peal of the finest sounding English Change Ringing Bells in the World... these are Continental swing - chimers and are a different temperament. Good ND are but are never a patch on some of the rings we have in the British Isles
